A week after the well-received visit by Turning Point USA spokesperson Isabel Brown in Montpelier, TPUSA is organizing at the University of Vermont and is offering virtual events for conservative-minded young Vermonters.

Turning Point USA is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk. The organization’s mission is to identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government. Turning Point USA believes that every young person can be enlightened to true free market values.

Brown, a frequent guest on Newsmax and other conservative media, told the large crowd of young people that it was their age group that helped bring about the American Revolution. She pointed out the ages of these Founding Fathers when they signed the Declaration of Independence:

  • James Monroe – 18 years old
  • John Marshall (future Supreme Court Chief Justice) – 20
  • Aaron Burr – 20
  • Alexander Hamilton – 21
  • James Madison – 25, and….
  • Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration, was the ‘old guy’ of the bunch at age 33.

“These were not old white guys,” Brown said. They were young patriots our age.”

Judging by the enthusiastic reception Brown received, many young Vermonters appear ready to emulate the young Founders.

TPUSA started a new chapter at UVM on March 20. “Although it is very new and small, I will be working very hard to expand it as much as I can,” National Field Representative Savannah Coelho said. Anyone interested in joining or supporting the new chapter can reach her at Savannah.Coehlo@tpusa.com

There’s also activity on the high school front. “We were happy to see such a great turn out of conservatives in Vermont,” TPUSA Vermont high school coordinator Rebekah Mangan said. “We want to further the growth of the conservative movement in Vermont so we are trying to reach more and more youth. We are mainly looking for young teens and college age students who are conservative. So if you have any kids, cousins, relatives, friends, etc who might be interested in joining Turning Point USA send them our way.”

Mangan included the following online registration form for interested young people.

National Field Representative Savannah Coehlo reported the following virtual events are open for registration:

1. Alex Clark- Popiltics, popculture and politics in sports. April 1, 7 PM. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_fb4k93t0RIycCCz8B0amyA

2. How COVID and Big Government Hurt My Business In New York State. April 8, 6 PM https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_kV6mrTw3RgGfk_i_Va-TOg

TPUSA will hold a national young women’s conference in Texas June 10-13, Brown informed the crowd of young people at Capitol Plaza last Thursday night. “You all absolutely should go.” She then checked herself and said – “sorry guys, you can’t identify as a woman and go.” TPUSA provides grants and scholarships to young people needing the financial support, she said.

  1. This is really encouraging!!!! We need our young people to exercise their rights and their common sense to help others in their generation learn the difference.

  2. This is excellent. Good to start the day reading articles such as this. Their success so far is very encouraging!!!!!!

  3. I hope these young patriots have the fortitude and courage to take the slings and arrows which will no doubt be hurled their way by their fellow students, faculty and staff who have been thoroughly indoctrinated to regard anything but liberal orthodoxy as “hate” and “intolerance”.
They will see what “celebrating diversity” really means when it comes to alternative thoughts and ideologies at that institution. I wish them the best as they and others of like mind are the only thing standing between freedom and the tyranny of the left…
