Hartland fatal / 116 MPH on I-91

A 55-year-old man from Springfield was killed during a crash in Hartland Sunday.

The single-vehicle crash took place on the Quechee Hartland Road, near the intersection of Briar Patch Road, at around 5:30 p.m. The Hartland Fire Department and Windsor Rescue were dispatched to the scene. The driver was identified as Scott Sargent, who was deceased when rescue workers arrived.

The 1997 Chevy Silverado drifted off the right side of the road and collided with a tree. Sargent was not wearing a seatbelt.

116 MPH – A man from New York was arrested following a speeding incident in Rockingham on Saturday. Police say Abo Shamuelov was arrested after the vehicle he was operating was observed traveling at 116 miles-per-hour in the posted 65 miles-per-hour zone on I-91.

Shamuelov was released on a citation to appear in court at a later date. He faces charges of negligent operation and excessive speed. He was also issued a traffic ticket for a civil speeding violation of 51 miles-per-hour over the posted speed limit. Republished from Newport Dispatch.

In many states, that driver would never have been permitted re-entry to his vehicle in order to drive away & such excess, reckless operation of a motor vehicle results in automatic suspension and even revocation of your license. Here in Vermont? Dollars to donuts, any & all charges will be reduced. How utterly dangerous.
