“Entitled and privileged” to refuse vaccine and expect intubation, medicine in ICU, he says

The University of Vermont Medical Center today responded to inquiries about the hospital’s chief of critical care’s social media criticism of vaccine-refusing patients.
Dr. Gilman Allen, chief of critical care and a critical care specialist in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at UVMMC, wrote recently on social media:
“What is more entitled and privileged than refusing an effective vaccine because of your ‘God given right to decide what goes into your body,’ but then expect overworked and burned out healthcare providers to lay their lives on the line to intubate and prone you in the ICU, and spend tens of 1000s of dollars on [medications] as a last ditch effort to save you from a disease that you ‘don’t believe in”?!”
“Choosing not to vaccinate comes from a selfish point of privilege and entitlement,” Allen he wrote in a separate post.
The Instagram posts above were forwarded to Vermont Daily Chronicle by a reader and Vermont resident who commented, “like this makes me comforted to have my family under his care! And they wonder why we are worried we would get different care?”
David Chong, who also posted, is a critical care physician in New York City.
Vermont Daily Chronicle sent the first screen shot (at left) to UVMMC this morning and requested a comment. In response, UVMMC public relations official Annie Mackin responded:
“Health care workers across the UVM Health Network have been doing everything they can for two years to respond to the ever-changing challenges of COVID-19.
“Roughly 75% of the patients we treat in our ICUs for COVID-19-related illness are unvaccinated, and they sometimes stay for weeks or months as their health care team does everything possible to save their lives. Every patient who comes to a UVM Health Network facility receives high quality, compassionate care from our hardworking staff. They are tired, but they continue to do their part. We ask the public to do the same.
“We know our best hope of ending this crisis is vaccination. We know vaccination isn’t a silver bullet against COVID-19 infection, but it is the best protection we have against severe cases, and it’s the best way for people to stay out of the hospital and the ICU, reduce the pressure on our regional health care system and give our workforce the relief they deserve. People who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine are putting themselves, their loved ones, their friends, neighbors and health care workers at risk.
“COVID-19 vaccines are widely available in our region at pharmacies, doctors’ offices and other places. To find a vaccine appointment near you, go to http://www.vaccines.gov or call 1-800-232-0233.”
UVMMC has been short-staffed during the recent Omicron-related spike in Covid-19 cases and hospitalization.

Apparently this doctor hasn’t listened to Dr. Peter McCullough or Dr. Robert Malone or thousands of other doctors who have treated their patients with therapeutics and have kept their patients out of the hospitals. Since our govt has forbidden proven, and by the way inexpensive, treatments for this Wuhan virus, I guess the uninformed will continue with the mass formation psychosis and falsely blame the unjabbed for the issues in their hospitals.
Would be nice to see some actual scientific trials from those guys (the Malones and McCulloughs). If you can’t present your data and have it withstand scientific scrutiny, what are you afraid of?
I am led to reply to anonymous lest anyone reading it thinks he/she has a point. The fact is many studies have been done (perhaps not in the U.S.) and the real science backs up the Malones and McCulloughs. Fauci despite claim to speak for science, does not speak according to science. Studies in the U.S. have, by and large, not been undertaken. The very people who claim to speak for science (and control the funding) have not allowed this to happen. The few studies that have been taken have been taken down, either by higher-ups or failure to get enough people to volunteer because the mainstream media caused people to fear to undergo the treatment being studied. Nevertheless, this has not stopped researchers in other parts of the world from doing their studies. The site “C19-early.com” keeps a running tab on these, summarizing the results. For example 76 studies involving over 57,000 people confirm a 65% improvement rate for those treated with ivermectin; cost $1. Compare this with remdesivir, one of the few drugs approved for treatment in the US. It has only a 20% improvement rating of 20% in 45 studies involving nearly 99,000 people; cost $3,120.

A large local hospital sent out an email about the benefits of vitamin D supplementation on the immune system from a whole-istic MD. I was very surprised.
What’s more privileged than an over paid doctor telling you to get your shots while he over charges his patients, uses really expensive medicine that has a 30% chance of killing you for a virus that has a .02% chance of killing you when there are options that cost only $1, then complains about how much work it is to save you and how much it costs.
I also notice that he no longer says “safe and effective” now it’s just “effective”.

Each day our health care providers continue to provide state of the art care for patients who refuse to care for their bodies. We are an obese society and perhaps our lack of care requires our overtaxed healthcare workers to overcome our poor choices. They took the oath regardless. Of choices made by the patient. Why is this any different?
There are serious and eminently qualified physicians around the globe that hold a contrary view from Dr. Gilman Allen, chief of critical care and a critical care specialist in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at UVMMC. While, Dr. Gilman may be entitled to his opinion, however, it is quite another thing for the head of critical care in the State of Vermont’s largest hospital to use social media to publicly express his disdain for people as he did on Instagram and damage the perceived roll of the hospital in caring for their patients.
Responsible people, exercising their God given right to choose what goes into their body, have made a highly personal and proper decision not to allow a non-FDA approved so called vaccine, that neither prevents infection or transmission and shows little evidence of continuing and long-lasting effectiveness, to be injected into their body.
To the contrary, real, and enormous amounts of evidence of medical injury and death caused by the product is seen from reliable sources including the CDC’s own vaccine adverse event reporting system (VAERS). Dr. Allen gets media coverage for his unsuitable view but the thousands of physicians who do not agree with him are censored and ignored.
Dr. Allen’s words bring into issue his lack of understanding of the totality of the vaccine questions and more importantly the fear that they bring patients and their loved ones about the quality of attention they would receive if admitted under his care.
Such an unwise move by a man with such authority! The hospital should publicly deal with it to minimize the damage done, if possible. The exchanges shown in this article are unacceptable and if his position and words reflected the opposite, my guess is he would no longer be employed at UVMMCV. His words show a lack of scientific inquisitiveness, close-mindedness, poor judgment and bedside manner.
Who exactly pays all that money on expensive medications as a Last Ditch Effort to save someone? I’ve always been charged for every last aspirin and bandaid when I’m seen there.

I have told my husband I’d rather die at home than go to that hospital! I had the Delta version, right after a major surgery (at Copley, thank you) and it was a rough go for a long time. However, lasting effects aside, I’m over it and probably have antibodies galore. I have seen the money- grubbing face of the UVMedical octopus and want nothing to do with them.

There are but very few, most were forced to sign on to the EPIC healthcare system due to funds and new “requirements” from the Fed. Amazing what nationalizing a health care system can do, only 10 years later and healthcare Tyranny is right there with the government Tyranny.
I worked there for a little while and they buy up doctors offices so often they don’t even do a cost benefit analysis, they just buy it and no one cares what it costs.

This is so sad. A doctor has lost his ability to respect the choices of his patients. The unvaccinated and vaccinated are dying because no one will provide early treatment. Covid is real, however the tests are not accurate and the hospital is incentivized with 100k for each dead body. So I am immediately suspect of anyone who has passed from covid especially if they were on a ventilator. Sorry for your loss, but covid may not have been the cause.

I spent some time in UVM’s ICU this past year and received good care. Honestly, after reading Dr Allen’s comments, I’d be terrified to find myself in that unit again.
First off, I don’t trust a doctor who doesn’t know the definition of “Vaccine”. It’s not a vaccine if you can still contract and spread the disease.. Second, please explain how not being vaccinated is privileged when a good portion have either had COVID, or have a condition in which they should not get the shot. Third, hospitals have been lying about COVID patients. You’re counting everyone who is in the hospital with COVID and should only be counting the people who are admitted because of COVID. Also you have been getting additional funding Everytime you report a COVID case and even more money when there’s a COVID death. Let me explain this in simple terms. You can not coerce people to take an experimental drug. People legally have the right not to participate in a clinical trial relative to an experimental drug. The COVID-19 shots available in America are still only approved under an Emergency Use Authorization, because they are experimental. While you wish to blindly ignore the fact that these vaccines are experimental, I am not. While you feel perfectly safe taking such a drug, I do not. I am young and healthy, possibly you are not. Each individual is entitled to determine their own risk based on their age and health. The irony is that i support your right to decide for yourself.

Many correspondents are missing the point. This isn’t about “Joggers and Cancer” or any other disease. It is not about refusing treatment by a physician or E.D. This is all about “expectations”! Health care workers and facilities are obligated to provide or search for necessary health care to any patient that comes in their door. One large university hospital, I know of, had a total of seventy Boarders, patients without Floor or iCU beds. naturally they were searching for open beds across several states where patients could be offered established protocols. Now, if a group of people, for any reason, makes an informed choice, not to take advantage of a possible vaccine to prevent or lessen the infectionous disease, does it not follow that, they know the risk and should accept the personal responsibility for that risk.
Let’s apply that even-handedly. If someone is vaccinated and has an adverse reaction, they should not seek treatment. If someone is vaccinated and contracts severe covid, they should not seek treatment.
Since the bulk of ICU patients trends with time towards the vaccinated, this becomes less of a problem due to the unvaccinated and undercuts your implication that the unvaccinated are the problem.
A better solution to follow than vaccination in order to reduce hospital covid census is to supplement with adequate vitamin D in the winter and use time-proven remedies like elderberry concentrate to treat any time ILI symptoms occur. Those groups tending to have zinc deficiencies will also need to supplement with zinc–old men and type 2 diabetics. And most people have magnesium deficiency, which also undermines the immune system. And the CDC should recommend that care homes supplement with vitamin D–10,000 units in fall and winter.
It’s amazing how many ignorant vax cultists and virus-deniers don’t supplement with vitamin D. Idiots on both the left and right.
I think its also unjust pressure on the hospitals directly by the cdc, indirectly by big pharmaceuticals which are largely resposible for generating a significant portion of the profits that hospitals and doctors receive. Simple solutions are not profitable but they shouldn’t be overlooked. Then we have the one sided politics of faucci, biden and his team, scott and levine all communicating to the public like they rule us instead of working for and representing us.

LETTER TO THE ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY FROM LONDON’S JEWS FOR JUSTICE

Dear Rev. Welby,
On behalf of the organisation Jews for Justice I am writing to express our concern at your recent comments that it is somehow immoral to take a personal decision not to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
I will not lecture you on the principles of bodily sovereignty and Christian inclusiveness, but I will alert you to the lessons of Nazi Germany.
The current ‘othering’ of the unvaccinated precisely reflects the ‘othering’ of Jews in 1930s Germany.
I speak not of the Holocaust but of the events that preceded the Holocaust.
The German parliament abolished the constitution on 23rd March 1933, allowing Adolf Hitler to take complete control. Two years later the Nuremberg Laws excluded Jews from citizenship and introduced a ‘citizenship certificate’ for the rest of the population in order to ensure their compliance to the regime.
On 23rd March 2020 the British Prime Minister overrode the (unwritten) constitution and placed the entire country under house arrest without precedent. A little less than two years later the introduction of mandatory vaccinations for health workers and vaccine passports for the public at large will exclude the unvaccinated from the full rights of citizenship and ensure the compliance of anyone who does possess such a passport with the diktats of the regime.
National Socialism in Germany subjugated the rights of individual citizens to the collective will of the state; exactly the same is now happening here in Britain.
It is impossible to deny the parallel between the first two years of the Nazi regime in Germany and the last two years in Britain.
Furthermore – although public hostility to Jews in Nazi Germany was evident from the beginning of the regime in 1933 – Jews were not sent to concentration camps in any large numbers until 1938, nor enclosed in ghettos until 1939, nor forced to wear yellow identifying badges until 1941; and it was not until that same year of 1941 that concentration camps became extermination camps.
So it was not evident in the mid-1930s where hostility to Jews in Germany would eventually lead. But we know what happened, and it is our duty to ensure that we learn the lessons of history.
The function of our organisation Jews for Justice is to use our unique position as British Jews to warn the public at large how history is in danger of repeating itself. This is our sacred duty to our ancestors who died in the Holocaust.
In Nazi Germany, the confinement of Jews within ghettos and their ‘evacuation’ to concentration camps was justified by the regime on grounds of public health, in particular the threat of typhus. The very same ‘public health’ justification is being used today to restrict the civil liberties of those who choose not to be vaccinated.
People in public life such as yourself who stir up hostility to the unvaccinated are no different from those Nazis who stirred up hostility to the Jews in 1930s Germany. If you cannot see the parallel it is because you are closing your eyes deliberately.
You will also be aware that the German churches were conspicuous in their failure to speak out against the crimes of National Socialism. You are repeating that mistake.
Finally, we are appalled that you should recently have compared the silence of politicians on the subject of ‘climate change’ – a hypothetical future threat, based entirely on modelling – to the silence of politicians on what was happening in Germany in the 1930s, yet have yourself been totally silent about an actual, global attack on human rights, which threatens the immediate destruction of liberal democracy in Britain and around the world.

How does he know that his patients are unvaccinated? I have heard over and over again that unless a patient has been vaccinated within a particular healthcare system, that system will not bother to seek that information. And part of the reason is that most doctors do not want to think about, acknowledge, or treat possible vaccine injuries.

Doctors are so easily duped by pharma. They are often incredibly ignorant about the science around covid. Most don’t even know that all-cause mortality from Pfizer’s covid vaccine showed no benefit wrt all-cause mortality and actually trended towards harm.
If doctors actually researched for themselves instead of relying on sources of disinformation like the CDC and FDA, they might not look like such fools. (No, reading just abstracts and results doesn’t count as reading articles since the data often is at odds with the conclusion.)
Those with a single jab and those in the 2 week waiting period post-jab are all counted as “unvaccinated” on hospital charts. Lots of ignorant doctors out there.
Interesting. Has this same doc ever railed online about his patients who chose to keep smoking and ended up hospitalized with lung cancer, COPD or emphysema? Has he ever publicly railed about all the obese patients he has to deal with and their diabetes, high blood pressure and all the rest? Or the damage done by alcoholics or drug addicts that the hospital has to deal with? I sure doubt it. But he feels entitled to rail against those who have chosen to not be injected with a dangerous experimental “vaccine “ that doesn’t even prevent infection or transmission. He doesn’t respect that many of us have chosen to keep ourselves healthy and should we get Covid, to use early treatment methods that have been shown to work; early treatment measures that we’ve been forced to source on our own due to their ban by our medical providers. this hospitals reputation is suffering hit after hit lately, I for one will inform everyone I meet of their views, firing nurses for refusing the emergency use only vaxx, the prejudice against care for unvaccinated, would they have refused care for hiv patients in the 80s claiming they knew the risks?
As a nurse at UVMC I am not sure I will continue to work there due to the discrimination myself and countless other employees are facing
