A candidate in a Democrat state senate primary deleted twitter posts touting her support for Israel, according to a published report.
The Rake Vermont says Joanna Grossman deleted several posts promoting Israel she deemed too polarizing for her campaign.
Grossman is competing in the Chittenden Southeast district for one of three seats currently occupied by Tom Chittenden, Ginny Lyons and Kesha Ram Hinsdale.
“Grossman’s progressivism ends when it comes to Palestine, in ways that could harm our rights to free speech and assembly,” a piece in The Rake claims.
“Prior to launching her campaign, Grossman painstakingly deleted her abundant public posts on X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit and vaporized a pro-Israel organization she started after Israel began its assault on Gaza,” according to The Rake authors Heather Benjamin and Andy Simon.
Benjamin and Simon make no bones about their anti-Israel viewpoint in their article, accusing the Jewish state of “genocide in Gaza.”
“Grossman took a primary leadership role opposing Vermont’s local movement in support of Palestine,” they write.
In Grossman’s defense is a group known as The Shalom Alliance, quoted in a VermontBiz.com piece decrying her being “accused of being a leading supporter of genocide” at a recent candidate forum.
“Accusing a Jewish candidate of supporting genocide is not a substitute for a serious policy question,” write Mike Kanarick and Yoram Samets. “It invokes one of the most inflammatory charges imaginable and places the candidate in the position of having to defend her fundamental character and humanity rather than explain her views.”

Democrats and progressives need to get on board with the current wave of anti-Semitism and learn to throw the “genocide” label at anything they dont or are not supposed to like. It all makes sense to me from the party that supported slavery, fought to secede, drafted Jim Crow laws, defended them in the courts and used the KKK as their militant wing. Yep, it’s all pretty consistent over the decades.
