As the investigation into Thursday’s fatal shooting in Eden continues, the Vermont State Police is able to identify the victim as David Peatman, 66, a resident of the home at 187 Griggs Road where the incident occurred.
An autopsy performed Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the chest, and the manner of death to be a homicide.
The investigation began at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday when police received a report of shots fired at a home on Griggs Road. Responding troopers found Peatman dead.
Preliminary investigation indicates the parties involved fled the location following the shooting. No one is in custody at this time. The incident appears to be targeted.
