Nolan, Malloy differ over Supreme Court nominee

By Guy Page

The two Republican challengers for the U.S. Senate nomination are at odds over the nomination of Biden administration U.S. Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown-Jackson.

And one of them, Gerald Malloy of Perkinsville, strongly opposes the Biden administration decision to waive a Trump administration Title 42 rule allowing border and immigration workers to send back illegal immigrants based on Covid-19 status.

On March 28, Nolan made waves in Republican waters when she endorsed the nomination of Brown-Jackson. β€œShe has the required legal experience, temperament and clear understanding of the judicial branch’s role interpreting the law,” Nolan, a former U.S. Attorney for Vermont, said. β€œAs a former prosecutor, I will always treat each judicial nominee with the respect they deserve, and vote for or against them based solely on their qualifications even if I may not agree with every decision they’ve ever made.”

β€œDiversity is crucially important in all facets of public life,” Nolan added. β€œAs a candidate to become Vermont’s first female senator, I believe Judge Jackson will bring much-needed diversity to the highest Court in the land, and hope that she is confirmed swiftly.”

After  a couple weeks of being noncommittal about KBJ, Malloy staked out a position in an email to Vermont Daily Chronicle yesterday.

“I have further considered what my vote would be for the nomination of Ketanji Jackson Brown to the Supreme Court if I were a US Senator,” Malloy said. β€œAlthough I would, as I previously indicated, desire to meet a nominee of this importance in person and participate in hearings, based on my research of her record on crime, specifically related to child pornography, I would vote against her confirmation.

Malloy also faults the administration for picking a candidate based on gender and race.

β€œI also believe that it is wrong, and not in the best interest of the United States, for a Presidential candidate or a President to seek political gain by limiting consideration for a Supreme Court nomination based on gender or race, or any factor other than character and qualification,” Malloy said.

Malloy also took on the Biden administration’s immigration and border policy.

β€œThe current administration should retain, not remove, the provisions of Title 42 at our southern border,” Malloy, a retired U.S. Army officer, said. β€œI am in favor of putting up a Wall along our southern border to curb the illegal immigration, drug flow, crime, and economic impact crises we are in right now, and have been in for over 15 years.

β€œI believe there is a distinct possiblity that removing the provisions of Title 42 will cause a loss of control at our souther border and I would urge the current administration not to make yet another bad policy decision that will adversely impact our Country.”

An email sent to the Nolan campaign at mid-morning today did not yield a response from the candidate by 12:50 pm. Her response will be published as soon as it is received.

  1. How can Nolan call herself the “first woman senator” if we don’t know what a woman is according to RINO Gov. Scott?

  2. As a Vermont resident our federal representation should vote what their constituents want regardless of what they personally want! Our form of government is a constitutionally limited REPRESENTITVE Republic.

  3. β€œI also believe that it is wrong, and not in the best interest of the United States, for a Presidential candidate or a President to seek political gain by limiting consideration for a Supreme Court nomination based on gender or race, or any factor other than character and qualification,” Malloy said.

We are witnessing what could be the beginning of the end of the USA, as we knew it, know it and , more importantly, want it. I am 68, a recovering liberal, and have never seen this kind of lethal political and cultural madness, and I believe it is all due to textbook Marxism. It’s become cool to hate America, but that’s nothing new since 1968 or so, but it has evolved thru social media, Hollywood, and that self-righteous-smug idol, liberalism. I wish to God Sanders was not the pied piper of political perversion because the young kids today are just American Grandstand dancing lemmings sans any critical attention span due to sex, drugs, rap and social media. “Rap is crap.” Duane Allman. Had to have been a racist! “Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone” has been inverted and now the high school and collegiate instructors indoctrinate our youth with Godlessness. Marxism. Great Article, Guy!

  4. Wow, in Vermont, it looks and sounds like voters have a clear choice to make between Republican U.S. Senate candidates, Christina Nolan (left) and Gerald Malloy. Following research, Malloy addresses the issues straight forward, what’s good for our great country and state, just as I would choose for them to be. He has my support.

  5. That decides it for me! Malloy for Senate! Nothing to do with Race, Gender or Political Slant. Common sense and good judgement demonstrated by Mr. Malloy

  6. Add me to the Malloy vote. Enough of the watered down, crazy America. I’ve lived through many decades and can not believe this is where we are. Two genders, one American family. The left has gone Marxist and nuts at the same time. Men competing in women’s sports, men in girls locker rooms, men calling themselves women’s names and demanding recognition. As an American, I don’t care what people do as long as they hurt no one else and keep it out of my face, our schools and our institutions. Those wishing for cultural diversity should study Rome. This is where America is headed. Godless morality, pedophiles, drugs, unlimited abortion and prostitution. This is mot the Vermont or the country I was born to. Instead of being Woke, wake to hell up and defend America by stopping the people bent on it’s destruction. Take back Vermont, Take back America.

  7. Vermont doesn’t need another jumpin jim jeffords and nolan is a jumpin jim right off the start. No THX nolin. No thanks mollie gray either.

  8. Nolan was employed by the corrupted Dept of Justice. Instead of asking what is a woman – ask the definition of justice and to whom does it apply? Does she have a copy of Hunter’s laptop too?
