A 77-year-old driver was pronounced dead after a single-car crash yesterday on a dirt road in Bennington County.

September 7 at 4 PM, state troopers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on S.E. Corners Rd. in Sandgate.

Investigation revealed that Daniel O’Brien, 77, of Sandgate was traveling west on S. E. Corners Rd. when his 2011 Nissan Centra Op#1 left the road, striking a tree. He was wearing a seatbelt. The weather was clear and the road dry.

O’Brien was pronounced dead on scene.
