Breaking: Bray proposes softer version of S.258

This morning Sen. Christopher Bray, D-Addison, has proposed an amendment to S.258 that would restore selection of 14 members of the Fish & Wildlife Board to the governor “with the advice and consent” of the Legislature and would add two new members to be appointed by the Legislature. It also would require the composition of the board to be more “balanced,” defined by Bray as representing the priorities of both licensed and non-licensed users of the outdoors. It also strikes all of the trapping and coyote hunting restrictions in earlier versions of S.258. The Senate is in recess as this is being written; senators opposed to S.258 are expected to weigh in.

  1. I will be interested to hear why Bray did this. I hope that it is because the non-POW folks are waking up and telling the legislators that we value our rights and traditions. Hopefully, normal Vermont residents are finally realizing how many choices are being taken away from us (which cars we can have, how to heat our homes, the kind of appliances we will be allowed to have, how we will have to depend so heavily on the electricity and the “grid”, etc., etc.) It might be helpful to make a list of all of our rights and choices that are being abridged to effect the perfect society that is being planned for Vermont by our Legislators.

    • baruth doesn’t have the votes to pass, bray is obedient to baruth.
It’s probable Dick Mazza put his foot down on the bill.

    • Senator Mazza has been absent the last couple of day for votes on this bill.

    • Correct that, Senator Mazza has been absent for the last three day for votes on this bill.

  2. dick mazza/// did mazza voice his concerns about the covid kill shot/// they are all in it together/// no hero in the state house/// you should by now know this///

  3. This bill, while weakened, is still a win for animal rights groups who are insidiously boiling our frog. They will be back next year for whatever they do not get this year. And if they get all they ask for next year, they will be back the year after with a fresh traunch of orders for their dupes . With every bill that is passed, we are losing this battle much the same as we are losing our 2nd Amendment rights. These disingenuous usurpers of the rights of the people have to be voted out !
