Vermont’s senior U.S. senator’s candidate of choice has overwhelmingly won Maine’s Democrat U.S. Senate primary.

“Independent” Bernie Sanders has thrown his full political weight behind Graham Platner despite the latter’s numerous controversies.

“When you look at politicians in general there are no saints,” Sanders recently told the National Press Club.

Platner, 41, an ex-Marine whose Nazi tattoo, misogynistic behavior and anti-establishment rhetoric have raised questions over his fitness for public office, nonetheless trounced Maine Gov. Janet Mills by winning roughly 70 percent of Tuesday’s vote.

Mills received some 20 percent of the remainder, her name appearing on the ballot despite having suspended active campaigning once she realized she couldn’t overcome Platner’s widespread appeal among party members wanting a new, younger face.

But in a post-election statement the 78-year-old longtime Maine politician refused to acknowledge Platner’s overwhelming victory, saying she would “continue to fight with everything I have to improve the lives and livelihoods of Maine people.”

Under an obscure Maine law, Mills could still walk away as the nominee but first Platner would have to decline the nomination.

If he withdrew by 5 p.m. on July 13 he could be replaced with a nominee selected by party officials.

The law requires a successor candidate be chosen no later than 5 p.m. on July 27.

Though largely theoretical, it could happen if Platner were to decide that his growing scandals demand he sacrifice himself for the good of the party, lest it lose in November to entrenched five-term GOP U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.

Platner’s withdrawing didn’t seem likely given his undeniable margin of victory but Mills is refusing to honor his achievement in hopes she can still extend her hold on Democrat politics in Maine, where she has been in public office nearly a half-century.

Despite Janet Mills losing the primary to neophyte Graham Platner by some 50 points, she’s banking on the controversy-plagued Platner to eventually decline the nomination.

Not if Sanders has his way with Platner’s future.

“He’s taking on the billionaire class and fighting for working families,” Sanders said. “Americans are tired of status quo politics. They want real change and that’s what Graham will deliver.”

  1. The communist are starting to win. If people don’t wake up, they won’t have a second chance to get rid of them. That will require armed conflict and many deaths. Just look at the history of communist countries that arose out of “socialist” countries; hundreds of millions have been killed and millions more lives destroyed. People have lost their way and think that people in power that promise them everything with no effort on their part will “give them everything”. When in reality all they do is chase away innovation and efficient production and soon there’s nothing for anyone except for the top leaders in the party and everybody else is either “neutralized” or suffering greatly. Read your history folks before it’s all been “cleansed” by the party leaders.

The man, you all have been calling a fascist and a Nazi is doing the exact opposite of what a fascist or Nazi would do. Shrinking government, cutting taxes and freeing people to live their lives and make their own destinies is not a communist/Nazi goal. Personally, I don’t think Donald Trump is a very pleasant man when he doesn’t get his own way, speaks roughly and grotesque at times. But look at his actions and tell me he doesn’t love the country.

Literally everything his opposition is stating that he does is something they are actually currently doing and have been doing for about 16 years or more now. They bent laws to attack their targets, 51 intelligence agency leaders lued about the Hunter Biden laptop being Hunters and admitted that after they influenced an election, they are funded by foreign money and agents (Soros, Russia and China) who seek to destroy our country, they have stifled first amendment rights in order to “protect the greater good”. Without any factual grounds or empirical data they completely shut down the country for months and shut out any and all debate on the “pandemic” that now looks to be exactly what some of us thought it was. A lab leak from a foreign country by an unauthorized funding of gain of function in a foreign country by an American “leader” that was told not to do it, and it was also being paid the highest salary in government at the time and making money from the drug companies that “provided the solutions” that didn’t provide the solutions. Don’t let your distaste for a person’s personality allow you to destroy the lives of yourselves, your children and grandchildren. Socialism cannot and has not ever worked. That is a fact you can check if you will read your history
