Free Covid money is gone, property owner to make up for it? — In Allison Clarkson’s column this week in the Springfield Reporter she talked about the large property tax increase. In essence she said they saw the education costs rising rapidly but did nothing about it for three years because they had “free” Covid money they could use to hide the issue from the public. Now that the “free” money is gone they see the public reaction to the huge tax increase and now they are at least discussing that they will look at the problem.
That’s all well and good but they won’t actually work on the major issues that are driving the education increases such as insurance costs, dealing with the teachers’ unions particularly because they are driving forces in getting them re-elected, and making necessary fundamental changes to the education system itself.
But in fairness to them they have been very busy working on giving themselves a massive raise, passing a bill that will go after oil producers to pay the state for selling us a product that has kept us warm, and passing a carbon tax which will financially harm many families and businesses.
They have priorities but they don’t seem to include representing us. -Keith Stern

Thank you Keith! You always have a knack of getting to the point!
Well stated Keith!
The education bonding operations need to be looked at as to what effect this is having on the property taxes. Now, who is buying all the bonds and are your representatives involved in these tax exempt operations. The Govie said this free money was available and they needed it. The lock down and the Covid kill shot was then put into play.
An expose showed members of school districts discussing taking COVID money to expand critical race theory – they are changing the name, inserting it into after-school programs, and conspiring on how to circumvent any legislation or court decision striking down the practice. When installed operatives ignore the law, ignore parental authority, ignore ethics and standards….make no mistake, they are targetting children and won’t stop until they are removed and prosecuted. Crimes against humanity, blood money, and sheep in deadly wolves clothing thieving and deceiving…Mystery Babylon no longer a mystery.
ACT 127 is the major problem, the lawmakers put an exemption in it protecting school districts from penalties for submitting inflated budgets. None of them want to give up the level of spending they had with COVID funding….

I don’t know about other towns, but that’s not the case here in Colchester. Colchester used 100% of its Covid Relief money to pay for a sewer development project that the voters had previously voted down three times. It finally passed because the town told the voters it wouldn’t cost them anything.
