A photograph from the September 1 Labor Day parade in Chester has stirred controversy on social media after it showed two state senators posing for a photo with a man wearing a T-shirt that read, “Is He Dead Yet?”
The T-shirt was reportedly made popular by singer Joan Baez, with the ‘he’ being President Donald Trump. Both the T-shirt wearer and the photographer are unknown. Trump has been the target of two known assassination attempts, which his supporters say are encouraged by messaging like “Is He Dead Yet?” The Labor Day parade occurred nine days before conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated in Utah.

VDC emailed Sen. Rebecca White (next to t-shirt wearer) and Sen. Joe Major (at right), both Windsor County Democrats. VDC received an auto-reply from White, but received this prompt response from Major, a first-term senator and U.S. Army officer veteran:
“I want to be very clear that I am against violence of any kind,” the candidate said. “I was unaware of the shirt in question at the parade and have not seen the photo you referenced. I wrote a ‘letter to the editor’ in the Valley News on Saturday [following the September 10 assassination of Charlie Kirk] that expressed my strong belief for differing points of view and tolerance for disagreement. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.”
The parade, an annual tradition in Chester, typically draws large crowds and features community groups, political candidates, and local organizations marching along Main Street.
Also of interest, at least to people interested in Vermont’s political history, is Major’s hoodie, referencing himself as the latest among five African-American men elected to the Vermont Legislature: Alexander Twilight (1836), Caledonia County Sen. Julius Canns (1993-2005), Rep./Sen./Sgt. At Arms Francis Brooks (1983-2017, except for one year) of Montpelier, current Franklin County Sen. Randy Brock.

Guv ensures Covid-19 vax available – Governor Phil Scott and the Department of Health September 18 announced a standing order allowing for the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine based on guidance from national medical associations.
With recent federal changes to vaccine administration guidance, this order will enable pharmacies to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to Vermonters who choose to receive one, as they have in past years.
“Getting vaccinated is the best way for us to protect ourselves and others, especially as we head into the fall season,” said Governor Phil Scott. “This order is a necessary step to make sure those who want a vaccine, can get one.”
“These recommendations should make it clear to Vermonters and providers that COVID-19 vaccines are available to all who want and need them,” said interim Health Commissioner Julie Arel. “The science has not changed. Vaccines are the best way to prevent serious illness from COVID-19.”
Pellet stove subsidy – The Clean Energy Development Fund (CEDF) at the Public Service Department September 15 announced a new program to help low-and moderate-income households in Windham County convert to wood pellet heating or to change out their old wood stove to a new, more efficient model. With these new incentives an income-qualified Windham County homeowner can receive:
- $800 for cord wood stoves and $1,200 for wood-pellet stoves.
- $15,000 for Low Income, and $12,000 for moderate income households to install a central pellet boiler or furnace.
A total of $208,095 is available for incentives from the CEDF. In addition, homeowners can receive incentives available to all homeowners state-wide from Efficiency Vermont for pellet boilers/furnaces ($6,000) and wood/pellet stoves ($400).

Representative Major’s hoodie dispells the false history of oppression against persons with a higher level of menanin, doesn’t it?
*melanin. typo
Trying to understand. Are you implying that racism isn’t real because a man is wearing a sweatshirt?
Chris, your question is illogical and disingenuous. You are not acting in good faith. Regardless, here’s an answer: Vermont was an abolitionist state. Major’s sweatshirt lists several black people who were elected to office BY WE THE PEOPLE, based on merit. Is there racism? Of course! Start with eugenics queen Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenhood, which is a beloved organization of the leftist death cult. Sanger wanted to eliminate “inferior” races and the “feeble-minded.” Hitler was an admirer of Sanger and U.S. eugenics programs. Black neighborhoods were thriving, flourishing communities until public policies undermined them. Planned Parenthood’s presence in black city neighborhoods and government policies that encourage and enable fatherless homes tell us who the racists are. Seth Gruber, author of The 1916 Project, brings the receipts.
What I think that I got from your word salad is that racism doesn’t exist because some black people have held elected office. I would urge you to ask Kiah Morris how she feels about that statement.
Oh, dear, Chris! I am so sorry you struggle with reading comprehension! Please consider getting your pineal gland checked! Best wishes!
As would be demanded of a Republican Senator if they were caught doing this, resign. Now!
SICK !!!!
“Wasn’t aware of the shirt’s message” ?? REALLY? What a couple buffoons…
These lefties are a complete embarrassment. Can not believe anyone voted for either one of them. WOW! We live in the twilight zone.. disgusting.
Typical vile, violence-obsessed, inciteful verbiage that leftists spew or simply support with frequency and then often claim ignorance once confronted.
But in answer to the tee shirt – No, Joanie. Obama is still alive & well after serving three terms as POTUS.
My favorite tee shirt!
My goodness, shame on you.
Keep getting the COVID 19 VAX, now read the T SHIRT. We live in a very strange world where bad is good. Comment from Richard Day.
Completely callous and inappropriate, regardless of one’s political feelings. This is not freedom of speech when it promotes violence.
I’m trying to understand, can you please tell me how the shirt promotes violence?
Fire
Democrats are the ones that are causing all of this hatred and racism. People are dying because of their woke beliefs! End the Democratic destruction of our Country
This was not a parade. This was the Labor Day Sept 1 protest where Becca White also started a “F iced” over the microphone for the whole town to hear! Nice representation from our Senator!
thank you for the clarification and new information!
“F ice “ chant
So good to hear the hatred on this forum. It’s not like democrats should be allowed to voice their opinion. We should start to use masked agents in unmarked cars to pick them up off VT streets and we can deport them to California. Who’s with me!
That’s funny…it seems that California has destroyed itself economically and politically and has since been exporting it’s excess progressives to other states like Vermont, so they can spread that misery. Socialism is all about spreading the misery and poverty until the lower standard of living is “equitable”.
As I said before, protected speech includes asinine speech. If a person wants to project they are so sophisticated, intellectual and beyond reproach, by all means let them proceed – it is their free will. If a person openly conveys they wish death and destruction upon a fellow human being – we know them by their fruits. The universe (our Creator under all Books) doesn’t lose an address, doesn’t misread or misinterpret intent of hearts, keeps very detailed and accurate records of deeds done (even better than Oracle or Palintir.) What energy one puts out toward the universe is returned and multiplied – that is the difference between high vibrational and low vibrational. The grandiose spectacles and statements do not mask their deeper issues – it exposes them for those with eyes to see and ears to hear. The masks are falling off in this season. Pay attention and act according to your spirit and heart – not theirs. For them, willful ignorance is bliss – until the day arrives it is not so anymore.
hopefully the creator remembers the ICE agents who snatch fathers and mothers away from their families, leaving the kids in tears and fear for their lives. I’m sure the creator will judge those actions as ‘good boys doing what the creator always wanted: American justice.’
Do you care to elaborate or comprehend where and how so many human beings were trafficked and transported into the US and EU? Who paid for it and how many are missing and/or off the radar? The devil is, indeed, in the details – which many don’t want to face or admit – it is enough to puke a dog. No worries Nick – plausible deniability and congnitive dissonence rules the day. Treacherous dealers and recompence upon their heads – it’s all coming to pass. Stay frosty and be prepared either way.
Nick, parents who are arrested or imprisoned for their crimes experience the consequence of being separated from their own children, whether it’s a U.S. citizen who, for example, got caught robbing a bank, or a citizen of another country who enters the U.S. illegally. Asylum seekers are supposed to go to a port of entry. Here you are again with your hypocrisy. You accuse Trump of not following the law but it’s okay with you that people enter the U.S. illegally, as if you, and everyone who agrees with you on the issue of illegal entry, are the high moral authority.
Re: “…the ICE agents who snatch fathers and mothers away from their families, leaving the kids in tears and fear for their lives.”
Here are some facts of the matter… aspects Mr. Rosato continues, incessantly, to either not understand or to ignore.
According to NPR (you know NPR, that bastion of conservative, fascist tyranny), – “…the Guatemalan government indicated it wanted to prevent the children from staying in shelters and detention centers and that it supports coordinated action to reunify Guatemalan children with their families.”
That’s right. These children were separated from their families in Guatemala by cartels and trafficked to the U.S.. And when the U.S. government attempts to abide by the Guatemalan request to reunite them with their families in their home country, people like Mr. Rosato parrot the progressive nonsense, as reported by Reuters and other left-wing media, that a “US judge keeps block on Trump effort to deport Guatemalan unaccompanied children”.
Excuse me! They’re not being ‘deported’. They’re being reunited with their families.
People like Mr. Rosato are cast in the same mold as the Jimmy Kimmel types who will say anything in hopes that some of it sticks to the wall of ignorance against which they throw it. And part of our responsibility, as American citizens, charged with protecting free speech, is to call them out when they seek to deceive us.
We’re not denying them their free speech rights. In fact, we’re not holding them legally accountable for the harm they create either. We’re simply demonstrating that they are dishonest and despicable.
While there are exceptions to every circumstance, people like Kimmel and Rosato pull those limited exceptions out of the weeds and give them a life of their own – as if ‘all’ ICE agents are destroying families around the world, leaving every child with whom they come into contact, “in tears and fear for their lives”, and that ‘the creator’ no less, the guiding light of religious right-wing fanaticism, is in on it.
While Mr. Kimmel and Mr. Rosato maybe fooling themselves with this monomaniacal madness, the rest of us are nonetheless tasked with the due diligence to counter their drivel when it appears. Unfortunately, there’s so much of this bunkum that it’s difficult to keep up with it. But do so we must… or we will, indeed, lose our republic.
‘American justice’, indeed.
I’m assuming I’m the only atheist posting on VDC and as a political republican of the John McCain and Phil Scott type. (Sorry trumpers, but I don’t believe in what trump said about states rights: “They must do what the federal government, as represented by the president of the united states, tells them.”)
That being said, I wonder what jesus would have said to immigrants who were fleeing persecution, sexual assault, spousal abuse, child abuse, tyranny, fear, hunger, fleeing Tren de Aragua etc. Would jesus say to these people “Hey! Hold on! Where’s your passport? Legal documentation? You ain’t got any? Well, hell with you then. Go back across that arbitrary border and talk to legal council or wait in line b**** with your child strapped to your back. Oh, you have three children? Doesn’t matter. They don’t have shoes? Get a job and feed your kids. They’re not going to school? I don’t care if you walked 1000 miles seeking refuge from tyranny and brutal Tren de Aragua gangs. We are American. We have laws. We are a christian nation that respects lives but only if they follow the laws of America first. American laws first, loving thy neighbor second.” ….. (that is what I, Nick Rosato, interpret from so many christian people living in the US. “American Laws above the life of a human.”) Christians who are anti-abortion say “give birth to the unborn!!! We care for the unborn!” And then, once the child is born they say “where’s your birth certificate? Where’s your ID? South of the US border, eh? US borders and laws matter more than your safety as a human When you were in the womb we cared for you. But now that you’re born, where’s your citizenship? Not america, oh well.” That is the christian sentiment I hear on this VDC forum. If not american, go back to where you came from: the land you are running away from. Go back to the land where american values are not important. Even if you want to live like an american, we do not care now that you are born. But to be clear, prior to your birth we cared about you being born because we do not like abortion. However, once you are born, paperwork and citizenship and legal boundaries matter more than the fact you are running away from Venezuela, a country we americans.
As Charlie Kirk stated: “I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our OTHER (author emphasis) God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.”
As if gun rights were god given, seeing as god came a couple thousand years before gun powder….. As Kirk clearly states: gun rights are more important than the lives of “some” lives. I’m sure jesus would be totally on board. Imagine Jesus working in his carpentry shop, chiseling away at a piece of pine thinking to himself, “God gave us rights. Gun rights. And those rights are upheld by the second amendment of Americat. Even though America is a couple thousand years away, those rights are the ultimate rights of a free, safe, and logical society. I just can’t wait for a couple thousand years after my death!” Rosato calls bulls***. Rosato calls “stop invoking jesus as a gun rights advocate.”
Melissa, regarding “What energy one puts out toward the universe is returned and multiplied – that is the difference between high vibrational and low vibrational.” I propose to you to care for the oppressed, welcome them into our country, let them build their lives, let them be happy here and raise their children. I propose that welcoming people is high vibrational. Let them harvest the crops we and they need for nutrition. Otherwise let Tren de Aragua and other cartels govern these people through guns and violence. Or do you think it is better to deport illegal immigrant to countries who hate America because in those places the world will be better?
Let the cartels educate the youth. Is that what you want? Seriously. I believe if we let immigrants into our country we can educate them about our values. We have a significant chance of cutting ties to terrorist groups. We can share our beliefs and educate those children about what it is like to care for the weak, how to cherish life. But then again, admittedly, I’m not christian. I don’t believe in god. Perhaps I’m misguided in the idea that if we welcome people into our community they will be better than the villains who governed them from which they ran away from. But heck, I’m atheist. It’s not like god advocated for caring for the weak.
If we push people out of our country, we are handing them over to oppressive cartels, governments, and groups who prefer dictatorships and oppressive regimes. Is that what you want? Honestly. Seriously. Do you, as an AMERICAN, prefer to push away those people who want to come to our country into the hands of oppressive governments? Do you prefer to send individuals who want freedom back to their home countries who house Tren de Aragua? Do you think it best to deport farmers, home builders, those who care for elderly… should we send them back to where they are oppressed by violent regimes? Is that better than figuring out a way to welcome the to our country? ….. I think we should welcome them, even if they violate our immigration laws, to a land where we love one another and do not tolerate rape, oppression, forced servitude, etc. …. I welcome the infi
I believe the mothers and fathers who carry their children hundreds of miles across mountains and through rivers to come to the US are not agents of the oppressive regime in their home country. I believe they are fleeing their home country in search for a better livelihood. I find it hard to believe the cartels and governments and George Soros paid mothers and fathers to march their families across hundreds of miles just to spite the US government.
There is a famous line in scripture that reads: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me and asked where my are my immigration documents? Aint got none? To hell with you. You shall be deported to another continent.” That was so prescient for two thousand years ago.
And Jay, thank you for equating me with Kimmel (although it is an award I do not feel suitable.) I believe humor is as sweet as sugarcane. And as for the rest of your drivel… free speech has its VDC. America justice, indeed. And above all.
Nick,
For an atheist, you certainly seem attuned to the logic of the Church of Christ, which doesn’t use pianos because they are not mentioned in the Bible. Maybe you can at last find your brethren. God bless you.
Re: “That being said, I wonder what jesus would have said to immigrants who were fleeing persecution, sexual assault, spousal abuse, child abuse, tyranny, fear, hunger, fleeing Tren de Aragua etc.”
Fleeing sexual assault? Fleeing child abuse? The Guatemalan children being returned to their homes by ICE, at the request of their families and the Guatemalan government, weren’t fleeing to the U.S.. They were abducted by child trafficking cartels and shipped to the U.S. because the Biden administration operated an insecure open border policy.
Is there corruption in Guatemala? You bet. Is there corruption in the U.S.? You bet. Guatemalan gangs, particularly the 18th Street Gang (Barrio 18) and Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), are active in the United States too. It’s reported that MS-13 alone has between 8 and 10 thousand members in the U.S..
There’s corruption everywhere. But this in no way justifies Trump-hating Rosato’s continued deceptive rhetoric about ICE, essentially implying that ICE is nothing more than a gang affiliate.
Small price to pay for living in the US. Go ICE. Keep up the good work, eh?
Another great action by ICE, eh?
Even us veterans are snatched off the streets. Sweet work, eh?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1bwrT6x5-8
ICE highlight reel! They are doing such a great job getting the rapists, criminals, and such out of our country. Even the ones who are citizens! Yeah! No fascism here.
Re: “That being said, I wonder what jesus would have said to immigrants who were fleeing persecution, sexual assault, spousal abuse, child abuse, tyranny, fear, hunger, fleeing Tren de Aragua etc.”
Matthew 4:3-11
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Re: The various videos of ICE arrests.
The first video by Chicago MSM has inaccurate reporting. Contrary to the broadcast, “Rodolfo Hernandez, 57, and his son Jonathan Hernandez, 24, were both undocumented. And the video clearly shows that they resisted authorities.
Are these arrests of the same magnitude as that of Chicago’s Al Capone or John Dillinger? Or should police have focused more on the 21 people shot and 7 killed in Chicago the weekend before?
In the 2nd video, again, as reported by Chicago MSM, the two citizens arrested were released. And the MSM reporters admit they don’t know why the other three are being detained.
The third video, in Oxnard, CA, claims that “Trump’s Gestapo, these ICE agents, were literally hunting and kidnapping parents in the community.” The video is taken by a neighbor who clearly knows nothing of the circumstances.
There have been more than 33,000 ICE arrests in Chicago. 11,389 suspects have criminal convictions. 17,000 have immigration violations. 4,500 are pending charges. And as I said earlier, people like Rosato pull limited exceptions out of the weeds and give them a life of their own – as if ‘all’ ICE agents are destroying families around the world, leaving every child with whom they come into contact, “in tears and fear for their lives”, and that ‘the creator’ no less, the guiding light of religious right-wing fanaticism, is in on it.
Perhaps it’s little wonder that Rosato believes the sky is falling, if these videos are the only things he watches. But at this point, while I do not know Rosato, his persistent and now long-term distortion of facts should not be dismissed.
This is reminiscent of the symbolic first of the four horseman of the apocalypse described in Revelation 6:1-8. (Conquest or Deception).
Or the Kali Yuga marked by moral decline, conflict, and suffering, in Hinduism.
And the Dajjal (Antichrist-like deceiver, akin to the first horseman’s potential deception), wars, and natural disasters in Islamic eschatology.
At what point will our faith be all we have left to guide us?

Thanks for the video links, Nick. We all know CBS News to be a bastion of truth, honesty and fair play in the media…That;s why network news ratings are so high. (LOL)
Who is he?
still don’t know…..
The two senators can say whatever they want as Melissa correctly stated “it’s
Protected speech”. But being public servants, they’re fair game for scrutiny.
No wonder the legislature has failed to do anything for Working Vermonters. These 2 are an abomination to our state and country.
Is he dead yet????? Yes, Charlie Kirk is dead, from a shot fired by a person called Tyler who climbed on a roof and took a one hundred and fifty yard shot with a Mauser 3006 bolt action rifle. Now, did they find the bullet and match the ballistics with the rifle?????? This looks like a ritual public execution of Charlie Kirk. The word Tyler has another meaning in the power of a group of others and it is called a gate keeper or one who protects the door from the wrong people entering. Remember it took only 33 hours to find Tyler whom is 22 years old and the shot cut Charlie Kirks neck. Enough said for now and you must keep an open mind. This is the second shooting from a roof that no one saw the person climbing on the roof. Comment from Richard Day.
ICE heros strike again!

I find it hard to believe that two Senators did not or could not read this guys shirt.
