Police are searching for this man who they say stole a cart of groceries on nine separate occasions over 43 days. Price Chopper/Market 32 video surveillance photos, date and time-stamped, provided by Berlin Police Department.

Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man they say stole nine shopping carts full of groceries from the Price Chopper/Market 32 store on Rte. 302 in Berlin between August and mid-September.

According to the Berlin Police Department, officers have been investigating nine separate theft reports between Aug. 1 and Sept. 12. Each time, the same male allegedly entered the store and left with a cart full of unpaid merchandise.

As seen in the stillshots from store surveillance video, the heists occurred during the early evening ‘rush.’ The shoplifter is seen wearing the same shirt and cap in all three photos. Police say he drove away in a dark SUV (see photo below).

Police did not provide an estimated value of the stolen groceries but said the case remains under active investigation.

On Oct. 1, police released images of the individual believed to be responsible and are asking anyone who recognizes him to contact investigators.

Members of the public can call Berlin Police directly during business hours at 802-223-4401.

  1. Must be the police can not read the plate on the front of the car???? Comment from Richard Day.

  2. Maybe I’m mistaken, but each photo seem to show brown paper shopping bags in the grocery cart, and receipts from the store’s self check out aisle in the man’s right hand. I’m thinking this accusation might be in error…

    • It’s probably an old receipt or he scanned a few items and didn’t scan the rest. People have mastered doing this.

  3. Doing this nine times means he has mastered the term SELF CHECKOUT and maybe he should try to win the five thousand dollar free food lottery from Price Chopper. Now how long can this person stay hidden????? Comment from Richard Day.

  4. Once something like food has been declared a “human right”, that means help yourself to it. In this case, Market 32 and their paying customers are covering the cost, and not the taxpayers.

  5. That’s a decent looking vehicle for a destitute man, and he has extra shoes to boot (no pun intended).

  6. That is why he holds the receipt in his hand all 3 times rather than put in the bag or a pocket.. I think it’s a cover up!

    • For those of you who suggest it, I do believe that clutching ‘a receipt’ is this guy’s idea of cover.
      I stand corrected…

  7. I hate self-checkouts and refuse to use them. What next, will we have to sweep the floors and stock the shelves also?

    • I agree! They have to be losing so much money! Give people back their jobs!
