Chittenden County State’s Attorney Sarah George has strong ties to Fair and Just Prosecution, a George Soros-funded organization backing progressive criminal prosecutors nationwide.
George Soros is a billionaire who for decades has funded socially progressive issues, including decarceration and marijuana legalization. Between 2016 and 2020, Soros’ Open Society Foundation gave the Tides Center and sister organizations, the Tides Foundation and Tides Advocacy, over $30 million. Fair and Just Prosecution (FJP) is a “project of the Tides Center” and serves as professional development and advocacy arm of the progressive prosecutor movement, issuing policy statements and amicus briefs as well as taking its member-prosecutors on domestic and international junkets. In 2019, over two dozen Soros-linked DAs traveled (all expenses paid) on FJP junkets to Scotland, Germany, Portugal, and Kenya, the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) reports.
Make no mistake about it, Sarah George is a shining star in the Fair and Just Prosecution firmament. On the FJP website, she is listed as one of 15 members of “The Movement.”
“With communities across the nation reimagining public safety and calling for an end to mass incarceration, a new generation of elected prosecutors has emerged with a powerful vision to transform the criminal legal system. Fair and Just Prosecution is inspired by these bold and visionary leaders and proud to work alongside them to create a fair, equitable, and compassionate justice system for all,” FJP gushes about George and several other local prosecutors, including:
- Chesa Boudin, San Francisco (since recalled by disgruntled voters)
- Kim Foxx, Chicago
- Larry Krasner, Philadelphia
- George Gascon, Los Angeles
While there is no evidence that George has received any financial compensation from the Soros-backed FJP, there is ample photographic evidence that George has been a regular on FJP junkets worldwide and in the United States. All photos are taken from FJP social media.
Vermont Daily Chronicle reached out to George by email this morning for comment on her involvement with FJP. Her response, when received, will be published promptly.
