Re. Burlington Police shooting. “The suspect was later placed into an ambulance. “Their” condition remains unknown. The suspect was later placed into an ambulance. “Their” condition remains unknown.” What is it I don’t understand? One suspect, “Their” condition ? Evidently his or her gender is unknown ? Or is it just politically incorrect to state it ?
In the case of a suspect involved in a violent incident, when the preferred pronouns are undetermined, we must walk on eggshells to avoid getting it wrong and making them feel bad. Remember, “words equal violence”…or is it “silence equals violence”, I have a hard time keeping all that straight. Is it ok to say straight, or is that homophobic? It’s all so confusing, but we must try our best to get it correct lest we commit a microaggression and justify a violent physical response.
The persons condition is most likely better off with the police using rubber buckshot. Comment from Richard Day.
