VP Pence can ‘Stop the Steal’ and keep the peace

by Mark Shepard

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke) I suspect Vice President Mike Pence has quoted that many times. January 6 might be his opportunity to live out his day to be the good man who stopped evil.

About half of our nation understands that Trump’s outperforming any prior president, his state and county victories that are historically indicative of a national victory and outperforming any Republican candidate among minorities since the 1960s make it a statistical impossibility that Joe Biden could have won.

At least some are quite aware of the numerous credible allegations of massive fraud, the first in our nation’s history of vote counting coming to a stop in what appears to be coordinated across the battleground states, followed by statistically impossible vote hikes in Democrat controlled cities.

Even being confident of that, many have abandoned the battle. Perhaps they see avoiding conflict as a path to peace, but the reality is there is no peace through an illegitimate election. And as I wrote here, Joe Biden created a situation where he has no path to a legitimate victory.

Allowing the election to be stolen would rip our nation apart. We must work this out now. While the genius of our Constitution provides numerous mechanisms to do that, most people in such roles have looked the other way and failed their constitutional duty. They are either crooks or cowards.

We may indeed be down to the last one, which is the role of the Vice President as the presiding officer over the Electoral College vote count on January 6.

The U.S. Constitution states, “The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted.” Nowhere in that language is counting the votes delegated to anyone and it would take a constitutional amendment, not simply statutory language, to accomplish that.

History shows that the count being determined by the President of the Senate was well understood, even in potentially controversial situations in 1796 and 1800 and it has served our nation well as this 2004 article (linked below) points out, while trying to make the case for a change.

There is no person who does not have a bias, but while both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson had the most to gain in their respective situations, they also had the most to lose if they made the wrong decision for the nation. So as this article argues they both made a decision that resulted in the most peaceful outcome, which has benefited generations of Americans and people throughout the world.

While this article tries to argue that luck ruled, I believe a mix of providence and wisdom is more fitting. (Sources: U.S. Constitution and Virginia Law Review article titled, THOMAS JEFFERSON COUNTS HIMSELF INTO THE PRESIDENCY.)

That is a very strong precedent and reasoning and once again for the sake of peace in our nation, unless the alleged election fraud is dealt with by the state legislatures and they appoint electors before January 6, Vice President Pence has a constitutional and moral duty to reject electors from states with two slates of electors and unresolved fraud allegations or that followed unconstitutional election laws.

Rejecting electors may be disputed to SCOTUS, but then perhaps they will finally have to look into the serious allegations of widespread fraud, including election law-making by state entities other than the legislature.

Counting fraudulent electors would disenfranchise about 50% of voters and be a slap in the face to our fellow Americans who at great personal risk formally stood up against election fraud. These folks deserve a hearing and Vice President Pence must stand up for these good men and women who did take their stand against evil.

In hockey lingo, the Vice President as the presiding officer over the Electoral College count is the goalie. His five teammates on the ice have all fouled out and are in the penalty box and only he is left to keep Biden’s team (including the MSM and big-tech oligarchs) from pushing their puck (Joe Biden) into the goal.

The noise is loud and distracting, yet the outcome will allow an election wrought with fraud to determine if our government thinks in terms of individual people and individual nations or if it falls to a collectivist viewpoint with misguided views that a single global order can deliver peace.

The Biden campaign has had plenty of time to help clear up these highly suspect elections, but they have shown no interest. As such, they are wholly responsible if things are not resolved before the elector envelopes are opened on January 6, as are each of the other constitutional safeguards that failed when called upon to guard our elections, including the press.

It should be made clear that these failures in duty are why challenged electors cannot be counted.

Perhaps some passed on their duty out of concern of the far-left mobs that showed their destructive capabilities this year. However, the worst option would be to cower to those small mobs that cowardly terrorized unprotected localities. These people should have no opportunity to influence the direction of our government.

“If this election is allowed to be stolen, we will no longer be a nation run by the rule-of-law. All peaceful options will have been exhausted for the majority of Americans who are law-abiding citizens. Unlike the small mercenary mobs we have seen this year, America will have tens-of-millions of rightly angry Americans defending their very way of life – their family, their property and their faith – from an outlaw-government.” – Mark Shepard

The patience of the Trump voter cannot be overstated. For decades they have tried the normal political processes, but normal failed. The courts have failed again and again.

So 68 million Americans bet on a man who was outside the Washington political establishment, and that turned out to be an incredibly good bet.

If this election is allowed to be stolen, we will no longer be a nation run by the rule-of-law. All peaceful options will have been exhausted for the majority of Americans who are law-abiding citizens.

Unlike the small mercenary mobs we have seen this year, America will have tens-of-millions of rightly angry Americans defending their very way of life – their family, their property and their faith – from an outlaw-government.

The seriousness of our situation cannot be overstated. The election must not be allowed to be stolen.

The only thing that will allow Joe Biden to continue pretending he won the election after January 6 is if the good man presiding over the Electoral College count does nothing with the constitutional power wisely given to him to do good for his country.

We must help our fellow Americans come to terms with what is at stake and together build a wave that lifts as many Americans as possible to their feet to defeat this crime against all citizens of our nation.

  1. That the election was actually ‘stollen’ remains to be an assumption, an allegation. We only suspect the election was stolen. What we do know, however, is that the vote counters are doing everything in their power to prevent an investigation into the voting irregularities cited by hundreds of sworn affidavits submitted to our courts and legislators, an egregious failure to provide the due process guaranteed by our Constitution. We should not act on claims that are alleged but on claims that are as plain as the nose on our collective faces. If a certain group of people believe the election was above board, they should have faith in our due process to prove their point. To argue that the election was stolen, when it hasn’t been proven by a legitimate investigation, serves no purpose. Don’t ‘Stop the Steal’. Take the constitutional high ground – ‘Start the Investigation’. If that means delaying the electoral college count, so be it.

  2. It is interesting how Republicans like to consider themselves the true advocates of law and order.; yet, they ignore the law as nearly 50 courts have acted to legitimize the election. They would rather enable the greatest promoter of disorder to occupy the White House. How sad!

    • Please, now the pot is calling the kettle black.

There have been at least 59 court litigations submitted, and not one, to date, has been allowed to reach the level of adversarial discovery and cross-examination. Due process has been denied, even by the SCOTUS, on the basis of legal technicalities, including but not limited to legal standing, time limitations, and other procedural roadblocks. That conservatives, including Republicans, consider themselves advocates of law and order does not preclude the possibility that the court system has been corrupted. The best example of this, to date, is Georgia’s Federal Judge Leslie Gardner’s reversing of a lower court decision to remove 4000 unqualified voters from the rolls ahead of today’s run-off election.

Oh, and did I forget to mention, Judge Gardner is none other than Stacy Abram’s sister. You know, the same Stacy Abrams who claimed the Georgia Governor’s race was stolen from her and who is now ramrodding the Georgia democratic get-out-the-vote campaign with slogans promising money if voters vote democrat.

  3. Cannabinoids are in essential nutrients to optimize human health and yet we are denied the freedom to consume it? It’s time for you to help free Vermont. The whole lockdown was BS because it’s easily controlled by turning on fat burning with cannabinoids and vitamin D. The severe consequences are reduced by NAC that quenches the free radicals that are causing the problem. See if you can motivate some of your political connections to move forward and understand that viruses can be controlled metabolically and that Vermont produces a lot of the solution with their hemp market. A philanthropist friend tried to donate enough neck to protect everyone in Burlington in the mail it was too stupid to look into it. I personally bought enough to provide to the senior homes back in March but they were too stupid to inquire and follow up when I contacted them. Like why is the police department couldn’t take the free product that I offered them because the particular ones that I had at that time has CBD in it and they were afraid of piss tests. The world will learn the truth the sooner the better drbob

  4. This piece by Mark Shepard is so enlightening, in a way. And by the way, who is Mark Shepard, and why should we consider him credible?
The states run the elections, and in the contested states, the votes have been certified again, sometimes certified twice again. The courts have turned away djt challenges of fraud as unsubstantiated. That is rule of law.
But Shepard seems to have some other notion of rule of law, and I’d like to hear more about that thinking.
Shepard cites “evil” and we infer that he means “other than trump.” Is that correct? He cites trump “victories.” What are those? List, please. He cites “Our way of life.” Please enumerate what that means.
The only specific issue he lists is “globalism.” Does he assume we all know the rest of “way of life?”
He wants to challenge the election in order to “Keep the peace.” How does that work? You mean to say the proud boys will show their stuff unless the election results are overturned. Are we appeasing the most violent-prone groups in the country?
How “peaceful” does think a nice liberal/progressive, anti-tump person like me would feel about overturning the results of a legitimate election.
Fortunately, he is so alone in his views. Fortunately many Republicans are speaking out against these unfounded allegations of fraud. Fortunately, the VT Republican Party is largely made up the moderates we have supported for decades in VT.

    • Question: How did the “nice liberal/progressive, anti-Trump” people in Portland, Seattle, Baltimore, Minneapolis, St. Louis and other liberal/progressive controlled cities, act this summer? Read my other comments here. If this assertion, and the contention that allegations of fraud are ‘unfounded’, have you convinced, can I interest you buying the Brooklyn Bridge too?

The threat today to our Constitutional Republic rest solely with our election system. If the last election showed us anything, it is that organized special interest groups can manipulate vote counting, even in our smallest villages. When representative elections can no longer be trusted, our Constitutional Republic will fail. Period.

  5. I suppose a postal worker, who is a federal worker, driving ballots across state borders is not suspicious? And, why can’t we hear an explanation from the people who pulled those boxes from under the tables after observers left. And, is it true that a Dominion machine was hooked up to the internet? These and many other questions need to be answered.

  6. I’m inclined to believe now that a peaceful transition of political power may no longer be possible. For certain, if VP Pence intervenes, even if its constitutionally legitimate, the people who rioted this summer will triple their efforts. On the other hand, while conservatives tend to be more reasonable, we are remarkably close to igniting that tinderbox as well. Nonetheless, if it’s ‘peace’ you’re looking for, letting the progressive democrats have their way is the best bet… but only over the short term. And that’s no guaranty.

Unfortunately, I further suspect that the longer conservatives acquiesce to the unreasonable progressive democrat behavior we’ve recently witnessed, the less peaceful the ultimate conflict will be when the tinderbox does ignite. So, while I do advocate for VP Pence to intervene, make no mistake, it isn’t going to be a peaceful outcome when he does so. Forewarned is forearmed.
