A Franklin County adult is the first identified Vermont case of human monkeypox virus infection, or hMPXV, in Vermont, according to a July 29 statement by the UVM Medical Center

Before Friday’s announcement, Vermont was one of three states with no reported monkeypox infections – the other two are Montana and Wyoming. New York is the only state with more than 1000 cases. As of today, there are 5,189 monkeypox infections in the U.S. – the most of any nation, with Germany and Brazil among the other leaders. The global total is 22,485 – with only seven of those cases in African countries that have historically reported monkeypox.

The patient is at home recovering under the supervision of their UVMMC physician, in coordination with the Vermont Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Confirmatory testing is being performed at the CDC. Monkeypox is a highly survivable disease, health experts say.

At UVMMC, a multidisciplinary team has been coordinating preparedness for Monkeypox, and will continue to work with the Vermont Department of Health and CDC.

“We knew this virus would come to Vermont, as it came to neighboring states, and we are prepared to provide high-quality care to our community,” said Stephen Leffler, MD, President and Chief Operating Officer of the UVMMC. “By staying informed, following expert advice and seeking care when needed, we can keep ourselves and each other safe.”

UVM Medical Center infectious disease experts reminded Vermonters that human monkeypox virus is transmitted through very close, often skin-to-skin contact, including through sex.

“Anyone can be infected, but brief, non-intimate exposures are very unlikely to transmit the virus. Monkeypox can be acquired by all people, regardless of any dimension of diversity including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, and sexual orientation,” UVMMC said.

It is also true that to date almost all monkeypox victims are gay men, as shown in the New England Journal of Medicine. “We report 528 infections diagnosed between April 27 and June 24, 2022, at 43 sites in 16 countries. Overall, 98% of the persons with infection were gay or bisexual men, 75% were White, and 41% had human immunodeficiency virus infection; the median age was 38 years. Transmission was suspected to have occurred through sexual activity in 95% of the persons with infection,” the New England Journal of Medicine reported July 21.

Testing is available, as well as a safe and effective vaccine for those with known exposure to a case or who are otherwise at very high risk for exposure. People with fever and rash should contact their health care provider for guidance. They should also isolate from others if they can to avoid transmission in the meantime. Those without a provider or insurance can call 2-1-1 to be connected to services.

Contracting monkeypox – According to a CNN report, the CDC says most of the cases involve men having sex with men. However, the CDC also states that monkeypox can spread to anyone through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, including:

  • Direct contact with monkeypox rash, scabs, or body fluids from a person with monkeypox.
  • Touching objects, fabrics (clothing, bedding, or towels), and surfaces that have been used by someone with monkeypox.
  • Contact with respiratory secretions.
  • This direct contact can happen during intimate contact, including:
  • Oral, anal, and vaginal sex or touching the genitals (penis, testicles, labia, and vagina) or anus (butthole) of a person with monkeypox.
  • Hugging, massage, and kissing.
  • Prolonged face-to-face contact.
  • Touching fabrics and objects during sex that were used by a person with monkeypox and that have not been disinfected, such as bedding, towels, fetish gear, and sex toys.
  • A pregnant person can spread the virus to their fetus through the placenta.
  • Animal-to-human contact.

Monkeypox treatment – The CDC says there are no treatments specifically for monkeypox virus infections. However, monkeypox and smallpox viruses are genetically similar, which means that antiviral drugs and vaccines developed to protect against smallpox may be used to prevent and treat monkeypox virus infections.

Antivirals, such as tecovirimat (TPOXX), may be recommended for people who are more likely to get severely ill, like patients with weakened immune systems.

Monkeypox vaccine – The Department of Health is offering vaccine on a “case by case basis,” its website says. According to a Vermont Public (formerly Vermont Public Radio) news report, a nationwide shortage of vaccine means that Vermont is allocated just 426 doses, and has received just 86 – which are being reserved for health care workers and people exposed to a confirmed case. Therefore some Vermonters are trying to obtain vaccine from Canada.

  1. The article below explains how this is really a jab injury…

Come the hell on, first of all can you believe any of these people anymore? Second two pandemics within two years and this one’s hitting right before the election again… While our whole financial system is being ripped apart. Think it through people.

This isn’t just happening it’s being done to you on purpose.

    https://expose-news.com/2022/07/28/gov-docs-monkeypox-coverup-vaids/

    • Of course it is on done on purpose to lock us down again. Unfortunately there will be those who can’t see that the so called monkey pox is actually shingles received as a reaction from the bio weapon jab. People have been so “duped”, and will be stunned to hear all the lies that have been told before too long…stay-tuned!

      • The short term goal is to lock us down, the long term goal is much more sinister. Shrink the population, enslave us through genetic/digital identification tied to digital currency, and make us never endingly sick and forced to pay and suffer for their benefit.

Waiting for those who are brain washed into believing the lies is literally killing us.

  2. CNN is one of the LAST places I would go for actual news and, the CDC seems to have an issue with being honest with us and, changes the definitions of things ( esp with COVID) so they can , with the help of Big Pharma , experiment on us.

    There IS a Monkeypox vaccine

Bavarian Nordic A/S, was just approved .

    https://www.healthleadersmedia.com/pharma/monkeypox-vaccine-puts-bavarian-nordic-spot

But , dont worry the WHO and the CDC along with their cohorts in the American News Media WILL turn this into a global crisis.

What most of them WONT tell you is that 98% of the currently infected people are : Gay and Bisexual men between 18 and 40.

How to NOT get monkeypox?? Dont have gay / bisexual relations with a man you’re not married or engaged to.

Too bad about the STIGMA….That community NEEDS to know the truth.

    • If you follow the money by finding out who has invested in Bavarian Nordic you’ll find out that this was a planned event…

    • And again I find myself (partly) agreeing with someone on here. At the moment, this does seem to be a disease tied to the number, frequency and ‘knowledge’ of sexual partners. Like HIV/AIDS before, there are chances that it will spread beyond this population, but the most effective prevention seems to be that one should limit casual sexual encounters with those whose sexual histories are unknown to you.

      So that’s ruined my weekend…

      • Only if you subjected yourself to an experimental jab should you be concerned, then again if I were subject to that I’d be concerned for my health in general.

  3. A recent study by the New England Medical Journal published these facts:
“We report 528 infections diagnosed between April 27 and June 24, 2022, at 43 sites in 16 countries. Overall, 98% of the persons with infection were gay or bisexual men, 75% were White, and 41% had human immunodeficiency virus infection; the median age was 38 years. Transmission was suspected to have occurred through sexual activity in 95% of the persons with infection.” https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2207323

So the statement in the article, “Anyone can be infected, but brief, non-intimate exposures are very unlikely to transmit the virus. Monkeypox can be acquired by all people, regardless of any dimension of diversity including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, and sexual orientation,” UVMMC said. is patently false.

Why aren’t we “following the science” in this case?

  4. This, from the Center for Infection Disease and Policy, University of Minnesota, July 20, 2022

“A global outbreak of monkeypox has grown to nearly 14,000 cases, including 5 deaths, the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, PhD, said today.” Wow! Scarey!

  5. And of course, just like with Covid-19, all the usual players ran a “planning simulation” to prepare “just in case” an outbreak may happen, which it conveniently has twice now.

Read the Monkeypox planning doc yourself; I’ve linked to the page of the “fictional” timeline in the simulation. Note the date of the first reported case—within a day or two of the first reported real-world cases. https://www.nti.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NTI_Paper_BIO-TTX_Final.pdf#page=12

  6. Here we go again another ” the sky is falling ” scenario … so was this person out of state
or country ?? I assume he had been traveling or was in contact with someone that had
traveled or what other nefarious deed was he involved in ??

  7. Don’t believe WHO any longer because they wouldn’t press China on the origins of Covid and because there wasn’t enough knowledge known about it-a vaccine was introduced that was forced on people, and it killed people or they lost their jobs because they refused to take it. Yes the virus killed people too but young people should have been given an option…..Did this Vermont person work at the wuhan virology lab in China recently because I understand that they are studying this virus? Is it intentional, yes I believe so. Just in time for mid-terms!!!!! So don’t get sucked into their paranoia and don’t call it monkeypox. Don’t play their game of the name being racist. I’m calling it what Tucker Carlson is now calling it—-schlong covid. Stay healthy and vote in November in person. Mary

  8. Based on assumptions and findings about mode of transmission for COVID, our government imposed mass shutdowns of schools, businesses, churches, mask and vaccine mandates, restrictions on hospital and nursing home visitation and recommendations about social distancing. Now that we have information about monkeypox and whom it primarily affects, will any such recommendations or restrictions be forthcoming? (cue sound of crickets here).

  9. Many doctors have been lied to by the CDC. The ones I have talked to admit that the C-19 vaccines have made the cases of COVID mild and prevented hospitalizations but in the long run have destroyed people’s immune systems. The latest proof of this is the gay community that engages in anal sex that exposes themselves to concentrated pathogens. Before the vaccine their immune systems were robust enough to prevent monkey poches. But now that same activity is causing monkey poches out breaks among the vaccinated populations in the gay community. By the way the gay community has one of the highest vaccine compliance rates, with multiple boosters.

  10. Now that Monkey Pox is here in Vermont I am waiting for the D to initiate (per their play book) a CDC driven lock down. It’s election time and we wouldn’t want to allow people to go (physically) to the election polls, as that makes cheating harder. Just like they changed the definition of a recession (even in all the online dictionary’s) to accommodate their financial lie; they will modify how you can catch Monkey Pox, force lock downs, and mandate masks even though it isn’t respiratory. WATCH AND SEE, THIS WILL HAPPEN !

  11. Interesting that while “monkey-pox” generates headlines, comments and speculation-
What exactly is it that we are having our attention diverted from? The failing US and Vermont economy? The latest spending and graft extravaganza from DC swamp creatures? Or the inevitable election fraud already being committed to alter results of forthcoming Federal and State elections? Perhaps it’s the fraudulent “climate change” legislation we are already stuck with, as a cold and very expensive winter approaches.
SARS-CoV-2 became a very helpful reason for those whom desire to control to do so.
So, why wouldn’t we expect that a repeat (actually multiples) isn’t being used right now?

  12. More disease & criminality from our great “newest” ILLEGALS, I’m guessing. This was indeed all part of the plan to once again attempt to create fear and chaos before election time particularly.

Haven’t heard yet of anyone so “terrified” that they’re believing the only solution is to vote an an un-surveilled drop box…..though I’m SURE they’re out there. And they’re democrats.
