Editor: last night, Vermont Republican National Committeeman for Vermont Jay Shepard of Essex Junction sent the following email to other committee members, urging that Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York replace Ronna McDaniel as chair of the Republican National Committee.
Dear Fellow Members – Many times, as a child my father would encourage me by saying “You Done Good”. He would usually say it after I had tried to achieve something, worked hard but came up short.
During the 2022 midterms “We done good”. Unfortunately, with all the issues and challenges facing America, good is not good enough. We as Republicans need to achieve real success; we need to be excellent.
“Yes, there should have been a red wave. It should have been obvious that with Republicans in charge, all of us are better off. It should have been very clearly articulated that the Trump/Pence leadership was so very superior to Biden/Harris.” – Jay Shepard

Our grassroots Republicans expect more from us. As leaders of our party, we need to be self-aware and acknowledge that we did not live up to expectations. We should have done better considering what the Democrats have done to destroy the economy and make American families suffer hardships that are unnecessary. Yes, there should have been a red wave. It should have been obvious that with Republicans in charge, all of us are better off. It should have been very clearly articulated that the Trump/Pence leadership was so very superior to Biden/Harris.
We all share in this. It is not the fault of any one person or even a group of leaders, but our base and grassroots activists are demanding we do better, that we are excellent. They are demanding change, and we have to listen to them.
I am listening to those that elected me to represent them at the RNC. I will therefore be supporting Congressman Lee Zeldin to be Chair of the Republican National Committee.
Ronna has worked hard. We are all thankful for her service to our party and our country, but it is time to take the party in a new direction. It is very hard for me not to support Ronna who I consider a friend (although she may not think of me as a friend now). We should continue to love and pray for Ronna.
We need to accept our responsibility and make a change and move toward excellence by supporting and voting for Lee Zeldin to Chair the RNC.
Jay Shepard
“THE MESSAGE MATTERS”
Republican National Committeeman for Vermont
Categories: politics
Red herring. Get rid of the machines, nationwide. See how much better you’ll do.
Indeed, the message is ALL that matters, Jay.
Is it remotely possible that those in GOP leadership in VT regret ‘dissing President Trump to again try to placate leftists and “make nice” with a group who has now been more successful than ever before in murdering the unborn at ANY age for ANY reason, who are allowing pornography & encouraging “sex-change” practices in public schools, who believe that violent criminals don’t deserve imprisonment, and who seek to legalize prostitution (talk about BLATANT sexism), etc. etc.
Yeah – disrespecting a former US President in order to “impress” the left with VT GOP’s “milk toast” ideologies didn’t work ONE IOTA after all. In fact, you succeeded in bringing back a revved-up super-majority once again, Mr. Dame.
MAGA – is not a person. It is a principal and an ethos and the embodiment of our unique culture. It represents our founding documents and the wisdoms they established. It reminds us of what the USA once was and everything good the USA has yet to achieve.
MAGA!!! Our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC must stand forevermore.
Patiently waiting for Mr. Shepard’s next Article in Vermont Daily Chronicle.
The one where he calls out the total failure and betrayal of Real VT Republicans by VTGOP Chair Dame and Rules Committee Chair Koch.
Dame and Koch wanted a Big Tent agenda this election cycle, All are welcome.
You don’t have to be a Republican, just say you are.
And Madden played them perfectly. To the point where after he won the Republican nomination, he bragged that no Republican would be on the ballot for Congress.
Not even close to the greatest failure and betrayal of Real VT Republicans though.
That would be supporting and endorsing candidates who voted for and supported Prop 5 and Article 22.
Scott, Benning, Beck, Walker, Sheuermann, Martin, Leffler, Parent and Toof.
And not a word of condemnation from Dame, Koch, Mr. Shepard or anyone on The VTGOP Executive Committee.
That would be supporting Ms. Nolan, who stated multiple times she supported abortion thru the 2nd Trimester, ( over 99% of abortions ) and said she would fight to codify Roe V Wade.
The VTGOP, including Mr. Shepard supported her campaign and many of them worked on her campaign, including Mr. Shepard.
Many readers on this page have seen me write the same facts many times.
Funny thing about facts, they don’t change, no matter who tries to spin them.
Dame, Koch and other members of the VTGOP have completely failed Real VT Republicans. But that doesn’t stop them from trying to blame others.
Instead of sending a letter off to the National committee, Mr. Shepard should pay attention to the latest election disaster right here in VT. Really, these people think that someone like Pence or Haley can take on the swamp in DC? Here they are ignoring what a crappy job they did here in the last two days then try to get our focus on Trump and McDaniel. Dane should move on and this guy Shepard predicted republican gains as I remember. I really don’t blame republicans for not voting anymore. We continue to receive a beating every election and the resulting depression and hopelessness from the republican leadership. Instead of playing musical chairs and dissing Trump on a daily bases, this group should be replaced with real republicans and conservatives. The best place to seek change is right here in Vermont. The party needs to flush out these RINOs. I can’t hear them anymore and I just may skip voting myself because it wouldn’t make any difference as long as these guys are calling the shots.
How could Vermont conservative candidates have failed any worse? Now facing repeal of our gun rights. Time to groom ELECTABLE candidates. Conservative, working class candidates whose value system reflects the majority of Vermonters, both men and women. Vermont will absolutely never again elect a pro life candidate. Get that thru your heads or gun ownership in Vermont is history.
You have given up on the unborn, but since you choose to remain ” Anonymous ”
it doesn’t really matter.
You could be a Pro Choice Republican, ( making you in violation of the VTGOP Platform which states, We support life from conception to natural death.
Or you could be a Troll for the marxists who’s goal is the destruction of the unborn, children and the Family unit. )
Either way, you refuse to stand up for the unborn and have chosen to give in to the marxists agenda.
I will always use my voice to fight for the unborn. And I will always use my voice to fight for our 2nd Amendment Rights. Just like I have been for years.
If you choose to reflect the majority of Vermonters, then you support the slaughter of the unborn to the moment of Birth, and the destruction of a Childs
” Reproductive Autonomy. ”
Contrary to your statement that ” Vermont will absolutely never again elect a pro life candidate, ” My friend Charles Wilson was just elected VT State Representative for Caledonia County. Pro Life, Pro Constitutional, and he did it without any help from the Caledonia County GOP or the VTGOP.
My value system reflects my values. I won’t stop fighting for them, get that through your head.
Keep in mind, when Jim, Johnny come lately republican, didn’t get his way in the VTGOP, he ran away like a coward, he QUIT, and started calling people names.
That’s character! That’s leadership
” Keep in mind, when Jim, Johnny come lately republican, didn’t get his way in the VTGOP, he ran away like a coward, he QUIT, and started calling people names.
That’s character! That’s leadership. ”
That is a quote from Tom Arnold.
The Keyboard Warrior that proves he is either willfully ignorant or lying.
Hey Mr Arnold,
How many hours did you spend on the roads of VT fighting at school board meetings for the children that Scott illegally mandated they must wear rags on their faces that couldn’t protect them, and from the poisonous jabs they didn’t need because they had zero risk from the China Flu ?
I spent hundreds.
How many hours did you spend fighting for the unborn against those who pushed abortion to the the moment of Birth and sexually destroying children’s Reproductive Autonomy ?
I spent hundreds.
How many hours did you spend on the road traveling all over the State to fight for our Constitutional Rights ?
I spent hundreds.
And everything I did was on my Dime.
Contrary to your childish claim that I ran away from the VTGOP like a coward, I refused to be part of their club to dismantle the Republican Party of VT and to be a part of their Big Tent to advance the Marxists agenda of the far left.
You see Mr. Arnold, those Republicans who proclaim to be Pro Choice, support abortion in the first and in many cases the second trimester, those that support illegal and unconstitutional Gun Laws because they don’t have the courage to step up for the Constitution, those that don’t have the courage to tell Scott to screw off with his illegal mandates, don’t represent me.
Everyone of them has betrayed the VTGOP Platform, just like you. You have proven the VTGOP Platform is meaningless.
In fact you quoted it on another page –
Vermont Republicans believe in one nation under God, individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, compassion for the needy, low taxes, a free-market economy, and local control. The principles set forth in this platform reflect Vermont Republicans believe in one nation under God, individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, compassion for the needy, low taxes, a free-market economy, and local control. The principles set forth in this platform reflect the beliefs and values that characterize the Vermont Republican Party. While individual Republicans may hold diverse opinions in some areas, such differences should not deflect from advancing the principles that unite us as a party.
Mic drop.
When Jim, Johnny come lately republican, didn’t get his way in the VTGOP, he ran away like a coward, he QUIT, and started calling people names. That’s character!
In the military, folks like Jim were never trusted.
Jim quit
Jim quit and ran!!!
Quitter.
Mic drop.
Ironic Mr. Arnold, Your attempt to prove me wrong instead proves everything I say.
Vermont Republicans believe in one nation under God, individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, compassion for the needy, low taxes, a free-market economy, and local control. The principles set forth in this platform reflect the beliefs and values that characterize the Vermont Republican Party. While individual Republicans may hold diverse opinions in some areas, such differences should not deflect from advancing the principles that unite us as a party.
” ….. such differences should not deflect from advancing the principles that unite us as a party. ”
Exactly what I have called out from the beginning.
Yes diverse views are accepted and welcome, unless they deflect from advancing the principles that unite us as a party.
But just like you, Dame, Koch and many in the VTGOP, they don’t care about the Platform. It is so much easier to attack anyone that calls out those who have sold out to the left.
I don’t cower or run away from anything. I stand up, even if I stand alone.
Which part of this isn’t true?
” Keep in mind, when Jim, Johnny come lately republican, didn’t get his way in the VTGOP, he ran away like a coward, he QUIT, and started calling people names such as Tranrepublicans.
The message matters
Character matters
Integrity matters
Did you not come out of the blue, no previous experience in the party, and try to become the Executive Director of the VTGOP or the club your refuse to be part of? .. and lost
Did you not help to craft and propose the VTGOP party platform that, “I refused to be part of their club to dismantle the Republican Party of VT and to be a part of their Big Tent to advance the Marxists agenda of the far left.”
Did the platform you approved of include, “While individual Republicans may hold diverse opinions in some areas, such differences should not deflect from advancing the principles that unite us as a party.” The platform, “I refused to be part of their club to dismantle the Republican Party of VT and to be a part of their Big Tent to advance the Marxists agenda of the far left.” Which allows for some diversity of opinion and open mindedness.
Weren’t you directly involved in writing and approving the platform?
Did the “club” you wanted to lead, reject you or did you reject them?
Ronna McD asleep at the wheel in my opinion.
In recent times, how many self-anointed “Real Republicans” have won an election in Vermont?
I can’t change or enact legislation without being elected.
And standing on the state house steps shouting, and name-calling gets you nowhere.
Mr. Sexton has proven so.
The mess we’re in has been brought to you by the self-anointed, unelectable ‘Real Republicans’ such as Sexton.
Not the first time Mr. Arnold has referred to me, won’t be the last.
Mr. Arnold is staunch in his defense of the Rinos, and just as predictable when I point out the ways they betray the VTGOP Platform.
Mr. Arnold makes reference to me standing on the Statehouse steps, ” shouting and name calling……… ”
Well Mr. Arnold, I organized the Rally to support Law Enforcement in July 2020.
I had worked for weeks with the Capitol, Montpelier and State Police.
Informing them of my intentions and the threats I received before the event from blm and Antifa. I posted notice before my event that if anyone had plans to come to my event just to confront the domestic terrorists for them not to come.
My event was not a protest against any individual or organization. The sole intent was to honor those who stepped up to save or help someone in need. And I had speakers lined up, including a friend of mine who’s life was probably saved when an Officer got to her house just as her attacker tried to assault her.
Blm and Antifa did their best to create violence by verbally and physically assaulting innocent people there to support VT Law Enforcement.
More than Two Hundred Vermonters attended and maybe One Hundred protestors.
They were violent, vulgar and offensive.
At one point, Pastor Gordy Wells asked for a moment of silence for George Floyd. All was quiet. Then Pastor Wells asked for a moment of silence for all law enforcement personnel that had been killed or injured in the line of duty.
The domestic terrorist screamed at the top of their lungs in protest.
The physical and verbal assaults became quite severe, and an elderly Woman holding a Support the Police was knocked down.
I immediately ended the Rally because of the increasing threat to innocent people.
Scott was shown a video of my Rally and said, We can never have another racist event like this on the Statehouse Grounds.
Clearly proving where his allegiance is, and it isn’t with Law Abiding Vermonters or Law Enforcement.
In August of 2021 I organized the Patriot Rally at the Statehouse. I had speakers from 12 of Vermonts 14 Counties teaching people how to protect themselves and their families. Again attended by more than two hundred. The Vermonters that talked with me about both Rallies were grateful for all those that stepped up to represent them and their values.
I have stood on the Statehouse steps many other times, and I have fought for the unborn, our 2nd Amendment and other Constitutional Rights. Inside and outside the Chambers of the Statehouse. As I have done many other times all over VT.
I spent the last three months of 2021 and the first four months of this year going to School Board Meetings all over Northern VT fighting the illegal and unconstitutional jab and mask mandates that Scott forced on children.
All on my Dime and My time.
So Mr. Arnold, when you and others try to paint me as a nuisance just screaming for no reason, it proves you are either completely uninformed or willfully lying.
I have been accused of trying to destroy the Republican Party in VT.
Not even close Mr. Arnold, what I am doing is calling out the transrepublicans that have sold out to the marxist agenda of destroying the unborn, children and trying to destroy the Constitutions of VT and America.
All without shouting.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you one of the persons who aided and abetted the Great Blue Wave, Reverand Jim Jones Sexton, jailhouse lawyer, and numerologist.
Everyone notice how Mr. Arnold doesn’t even try to defend the Rinos I call out for lying, failing and betraying the Real Vermont Republicans ?
He sure is quick to attack me for stepping up to fight them though.
Hey Mr. Arnold, do you support the slaughter of Babies to the moment of Birth, the illegal and unconstitutional Gun Laws, the unconstitutional jab and mask mandates, and the transgender agenda that will destroy the Reproductive Autonomy of children, or are you just a mouthpiece for those that do ?
Ironic that you feel compelled to attack me for speaking the truth, but defend those traitors.
FYI ; Feel free to continue your ” poetry ” and one liners.
I have a life. No more time for your drivel.
Zeldin would be a step in the “right” direction.
Why has it taken this long period of time to conclude that McDaniel must go? I
supported firing her after she failed in attempt #1; now we have 2 more failures??
The 2022 selection process has succeeded in rousing many feathers in the DNC and RNC for sure. Did the GOP leave any crypto on the FTX exchange? The Government of the Bahamas locked it all up yesterday. Why is there a church in Randolph having a toy drive for the Ukraine? Are they actually sending toys to the Ukraine or will the toys be converted to crypto? Appears the shaking has commenced in grand fashion and the stench of desperation is everywhere post-2022 selection.
