Senators squabble over future of S.151

Bill with minor consent for STD vax not expected to pass, Democratic senator says

The one-minute exchange between Sens. Hardy and Lyons begins at about 1:21:10.

By Guy Page

Two powerful Vermont state senators had a heated exchange today over S.151, a bill of miscellaneous health care regulations that also includes lowering the age of consent to 12 for STD vaccination.

During the testy back-and-forth in Senate Health and Welfare, Sen. Ruth Hardy (D-Addison, also Chair of Senate Government Operations Committee) makes clear her opinion that she doesn’t back the bill, no-one else besides Chair Ginny Lyons on the committee backs the bill, and that Lyons (D-Chittenden) is wasting their time.

The exchange appears below:

Hardy: Madame Chair, what are you doing? Why are you amending a bill that none of us support? Just so the stakeholders and the people in the room who are not sitting at this table are negotiating the language?

Lyons: Do you have a comment, Senator, about the bill?

Hardy: I’m making a comment.

Lyons: Is there a section you would like deleted?

Hardy: I would like all the sections deleted. I do not support the bill. We don’t have the votes – the committee –

Lyons: [indistinguishable]

Hardy: I would like you to make clear your intentions

Lyons: My intention is to go through the bill and understand

Hardy:  but why are you continuing to make changes to a bill that is not going to pass?

Lyons: Because I can.

Hardy: So, you’re just doing this as, like what, a power move? I do not understand this.

Lyons: Senator, we’re trying to understand the issues here. Thank you.

Hardy: We have other work that could be done.

Lyons: Thank you for your comments.

The contention seemed to focus on a section in which the Director of Health Care Reform for the Agency of Human Services provides input to Green Mountain Care Board to inform the Board’s work. Hardy and Sen. Gulick do not like this section and want the GMCB to not be under any direction from the Agency of Human Services.

During the committee discussion, no one addresses the elephant in the room, which is that Sec 4 minor 12+ consent to STI prevention violates federal law, opponents have repeatedly told the  committee. A letter from the law firm of Siri Glimstad in DC says a lawsuit is imminent if S151 passes. Gulick and Lyons are on record for keeping Section 4 in.

Lyons, if she chooses to seek reelection this year, faces a Democratic primary challenge from Dr. Louis Meyers, a physician with concerns about State of Vermont health care oversight. (Announcement of his candidacy to be published shortly in VDC.)

  1. Parents better wake up, they are your children, not some bureaucrat pawn !!
Kids are Kids until the age of consent which is currently 18…………………………..

At eighteen kick them out, unless you are a progressive you can keep them under your wing until they are in their late twenties living in your basement, snowflakes !!

  2. I used to respect elected officials, and there are a few left that deserve respect, but what’s left of my respect is rapidly dwindling to 0.
Lyons supposedly favors “policies to reduce trauma and toxins” negatively affecting children, yet she’s in favor of the HPV vaccine given to children without their parents’ knowledge or consent. I can’t imagine why she’s so adament. Is she being paid to support it? Gardisil is one of the riskiest vaccines on the CDC’s childhood vaccine schedule with adverse events listed on the package insert including in girls; Arthralgia/Arthritis/Arthropathy†
    Autoimmune Thyroiditis
    Celiac Disease
    Diabetes Mellitus Insulin-dependent
    Erythema Nodosum
    Hyperthyroidism‡
    Hypothyroidism§
    Inflammatory Bowel Disease¶
    Multiple Sclerosis
    Nephritis#
    Optic Neuritis
    Pigmentation DisorderÞ
    Psoriasisß
    Raynaud’s Phenomenon
    Rheumatoid Arthritisà
    Scleroderma/Morphea
    Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
    Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and
    Uveitis.

    In boys, adverse events include:
    Alopecia Areata
    Ankylosing Spondylitis
    Arthralgia/Arthritis/Reactive Arthritis
    Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia
    Diabetes Mellitus Type 1
    Hyperthyroidism
    Hypothyroidism†
    Inflammatory Bowel Disease‡
    Myocarditis
    Proteinuria
    Psoriasis
    Skin Depigmentation and
    Vitiligo.

Give it up, Lyons. Nobody wants it.

  3. ginny lyons famous quote/// because i can/// because i can/// it time for the voters to say no you can not at the voting booth///

  4. “Because I can”. The hubris present in our D/P elitist legislators is epic. It almost seems these two imagine themselves as Vermont nancy pelosi’s, ruling rather than representing. Both lyons and hardy do represent what is wrong in Vermont politics- perhaps emulating the sheer arrogance of pro-tem baruth.
Judging from the condition of Vermonts economy and Vermont society in general, these two just add to the failure we experience everyday.

  5. “violates federal law, opponents have repeatedly told the committee” The fact and rule of law should only have to be told once if at all to “lawmakers.” Yet, when dealing with lawfare warfare warriors under the Golden Thunder Dome and the State of Vermont, established Federal statutes and case law is nothing but a nuisance and blatantly ignored. Class action lawsuits are very effective. The Vermont Legislature and the State of Vermont have teed up a good number of them ripe for the trying all the way to the Supreme Court for the biggest of all pay days and billable hours. Opportunity is knocking – any astute hungry attorneys left out here?

    • State’s defense for unconstitutional gun laws and S37 violation of free speech and restricting provision of services of Pregnancy Resource Centers all paid for by the taxpayers. Our current legislators do not care. By any means possible, even if it breaks the law and is unethical: Marxism.

  6. Once the government decides that it can do better for the children than those pesky parents, then is anything really off the table?

Pesky Vermont parents be warned. You are at risk of losing your children. Risk factors include:

    – Sending your kids to public schools for 8+ hours a day of “queering”, Marxist ideology and general-purpose indoctrination.

    – Taking your kids to see a doctor, dentist, psychologist or other mandated reporter in Vermont.

If you engage in any of the above, it is just a matter of time before they will either be convinced that they are in the wrong body, “suggested” to take a psychotropic medication, or you are accused of being a neglectful parent by not participating with your kids induced gender fantasies.

    Only known solutions:

    1) Homeschool your kids.
    2) Use self-pay medical providers that are not captured by the medical-industrial complex.
    3) Get OUT of Vermont.

Preferably all the above. You’re welcome.

  7. Irony – voting against any Bill that lowers the age of consent to 12. ( or younger )
You need to understand, this is settled. Once Scott signed H89 into Law, the Law which gives the State the right to steal a child of any age to sexually, chemically, physically and psychologically destroy their ability to reproduce, the age of consent is whatever the child deems it to be. ( more accurately it gives that Right to whoever makes it possible for the State to steal your child )
    Buuuuuttttt that’s just a technicality.
Remember just a couple years ago when the School Nurse couldn’t give your child an Aspirin without your consent ? Good times.

What the hypocrites and liars pretending to stand up for innocent children won’t admit is they voted for this.
You can’t stand up and scream that a child is responsible enough to have their body permanently mutilated because they don’t know which gender they are supposed to be, but they cannot possibly be responsible enough to decide if they should receive a poison injected into them without the Parents knowledge.

Just like when McCoy, Maguire and Galfetti became so outraged that H72 would make ” Safe Injection Sites ” available to anyone of any age. Standing in front of the camera and screaming, ” You Can’t do that to a child !!! ”
( but they all voted for H89 )
Here’s the good news – because H89 makes the Age of consent whatever the child deems it to be, they can now drive a car, purchase alcohol, get a tattoo, purchase a Gun and Ammo, but best of all they could choose to be Christian Conservatives.
You see, it’s the Law now. It’s in the Vermont Constitution.
So denying the Constitutional Right of any Five year old from Purchasing a Gun is, UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Words have meanings, Votes have consequences. Don’t just blame the marxists in the Supermajority, Scott and 24 VT State GOP Representatives voted for and support this.

Satan and Moloch are laughing. Evil, confusion and lies have filled the Statehouse.
And the destruction of children is their priority.
