More than 2.5 million people were under mandatory evacuation orders in Florida, but legally, no residents can be forced to leave their homes.

The two Nord Stream pipelines were seriously damaged this week in what is suspected to have been a deliberate attack. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday called the incident “sabotage action” and warned “any deliberate disruption of active European energy infrastructure is unacceptable and will lead to the strongest possible response.” On Wednesday, Zakharova asked who exactly the warning would apply to. “I don’t get it. MEP Sikorski thanked the US for what had happened, so whom is Ursula ‘threatening’ there?” she wrote on social media. Zakharova was referring to the reaction to the incident by Sikorski, now an EU lawmaker, who posted a photo of the site where the explosions occurred on Twitter with the words: “Thank you, USA.” He described the incident as a “special maintenance operation.”

A tip from the U.S. spy agency was “received in Berlin during the summer,” the outlet said, citing “several people familiar with the matter.” Officially, however, the federal government declined to comment on intelligence-related matters. German security services are currently examining satellite imagery of the area where the explosions occurred, but see only “unremarkable” naval traffic, according to Spiegel. They are also convinced only a state actor could have done this, suggesting “divers or a mini-submarine” could have installed mines or explosives on the pipeline.

Referendums Are Over, Ballots Are Counted; Russia Wins Four New States | 27 Sept 2022 | The Public Referendums in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye oblasts (states) in what was Ukraine, have now been completed. The ballots have been hand counted. By overwhelming majority, all four oblasts have voted to return home to Russia. All four are, at this very moment, now “Russian Territory” and they will be defended by the Russian Army. From Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, Dmitry Medvedev: “The referendums are over. The results are clear. Welcome home to Russia!” Together with a turnout of over 90%, this results in the approval of around 90% of all eligible voters. 

Donbass referendum results revealed | 27 Sept 2022 | The majority of citizens of both the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) support the idea of uniting with Russia, according to local election commissions. In the DPR, more than 99% of voters supported the idea of joining Russia, according to early official figures. The referendum in the LPR yielded a similar result, with more than 98% of voters supporting the potential reunification. In both republics, all the ballots have already been counted, according to local authorities. The polls were conducted in the republics, as well as in the Moscow-controlled parts of Ukraine’s Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions, between September 23 and 27.
