A delivery van was destroyed in a fire on I-91 yesterday.

At 3:48 PM on Wednesday, September 28, State Police saw large amounts of black smoke on I-91 South in Sheffield. Troopers found a FedEx work van engulfed in flames along the shoulder of the interstate.

The operator, Shawn Rundgren (41) of Lunenburg, exited the vehicle without incident and was uninjured. Caledonia County Sheriff Deputies assisted troopers with traffic, while the Sheffield & Wheelock Fire Department diligently worked to extinguish the flames.

Investigation later revealed the fire originated in the engine compartment of the vehicle. No other vehicles were damaged as a result of the incident. VSP photos
