    • Fact check True! A comprehensive, detailed audit of all sets of books is out of the question. Transparency is a dirty word under the Golden Thunder Dome

  1. Why is the state budget $8,600,000,000?

Well that’s easy you have inept clowns ” AKA ” the “Super-Majority ” and all the pet projects that amount to nothing but funding their agendas, they don’t give a Rats-A
about your financial concerns or killing the state with debt, progressives are a cancer
    within the state.

Wake up people, you vote for these inept fools in year after year, If they cared about the state and its citizens, we would have a balanced budget and a livable tax base, as you are their money tree, but you must support the ” Stupid Majority ” and their spending sprees and your $8.6B of spending, let’s see a line item budget and remove the nonsense.

  2. Why? The main reason (almost the entire reason in fact) is that Vermont’s public monopoly PreK-12 education spending jumped from about $1.8 Billion in 2021 to $2.7 Billion in 2024. That’s a 50% increase over a mere three-year period. And what do we get for that spending? A bunch of people in the legislature who obviously don’t need (or care to have) critical thinking skills, nor do they know how to add AND subtract. And because they’re all members of the government super-majority (i.e., cartel) in one way or another, they’ll keep electing themselves until we all go bankrupt.

El Salvador is looking better by the minute.

  3. Question: Why is Vermont’s State Budget $8,600,000,000?

Answer: You have Postmodern Marxists in Vermont’s legislature.

  4. I would love to attend but will be on vacation. Why does Vermont have over twice the budget of New Hampshire with half the population? Severe cuts must be made to get our state an attactive place to live not only aesthetically but financially. The Dems in our legislature are killing us.

    • To answer your question, the reason our Legislature wastes so much of our earnings is because like braindead zombies, brainwashed Vermonters lurch to the polls every election to dutifully pull the lever for Democrats. Vermont zombie voters reward the incompetence of Democrats with a greater Democrat majority. Therefore, irresponsible, incompetent Democrats can tax and spend as much as they want, without being held accountable.

  5. Extortion
    noun.
The practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats.
    _______________________
Title 13 : Crimes and Criminal Procedure
Chapter 039 : Extortion and Threats
    (Cite as: 13 V.S.A. § 1701)

    § 1701. Definition and penalty

A person who maliciously threatens to accuse another of a crime or offense, or with an injury to his or her person or property, with intent to extort money or other pecuniary advantage, or with intent to compel the person so threatened to do an act against his or her will, shall be imprisoned not more than three years or fined not more than $500.00, or both. (Amended 1971, No. 199 (Adj. Sess.), § 15; 1973, No. 109, § 6; 1981, No. 223 (Adj. Sess.), § 23.)

    • The definition fits perfectly. If you dont pay your taxes, men with guns will come to your house…

  6. WHY is the State Budget $8.6 billion? Because you aren’t going to do a darn thing about it, and no one will be punished for allowing it to happen. Accept it.

    • I, for one, refuse to accept it. But I am just one feather. What happens when a considerable minority of the people refuse to be governed by such madness? What. will. happen. 🤔

    • @S. Adam Manley “What happens when a considerable minority of the people refuse to be governed by such madness? What. will. happen”

People unwilling to accept it will most likely take the path of least resistance, which I’d guess move somewhere else. The people willing to accept it will take their place.

People of today are unwilling to form any meaningful resistance to anything the government forces us to do. The COVID shenanigans were a huge test, and we failed miserably. Even Canada’s people did a better job than us. A major chunk of this government inflated spending was brought to you by our savior Trump (“don’t worry we will pay it back”), and continued with Biden. Once States start spending the money and destroying wealth and the federal checks no longer come in, they look to the local people to fit the bill for the continued spending.

People are not going to do anything meaningful to fix our situation until they have nothing left to lose. At that point it will be too late. It’s pretty much already too late. It will take a huge technological discovery, or some major luck to prevent what’s to come.

It’s illegal to even manufacture and sell a production car that can’t be remotely shut down and that spies on you, and I haven’t heard a single person voice any negative opinions on that. We are doomed. Humanity is doomed. Accept it and prepare.

    • @VermontVermonter Pretty much what I see too, so yeah, that’s one possibility. Except I believe there is still hope to break free and right the ship. It will require only a handful of strong and dedicated people at a local level to right the ship.

  7. What a bunch of pointless griping and name calling – “grifters” “clowns” “stupid majority” “marxists” “inept fools” “extortionists” Not even one constructive comment. But maybe you all feel better now?

    • Mark, “Postmodern Marxists” isn’t “name calling”. Postmodern Marxism is an atheistic, totalitarian ideology. “ One “constructive comment” is laced in my comment, that is, to identify the problem. You don’t want to do that because you’re in a state of denial in what the Democrat Party has become. The Democrat Party has transformed itself into a Postmodern Socialist Party.

    • Mark, Read this:

      file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/8a/10/691B2649-A44C-4497-971F-1E52CFC58604/FILE_8230.pdf

    • Hey Mark, I didn’t see any “CONSTRUCTIVE” comment from YOU!!!! obviously you don’t have any…. you must be a demonut (how’s that for a name calling)

    • Mark, your comment is somewhat accurate. I am afraid too many people are fustraded by this situation where State spending has grown by 50% in just a few short years. These intelligent folks are glossing over the fact that if spending increases by 50%, then tax revenue is also required to increase by 50% (there is no magic ‘money tree’…it is based on our economy).

As far as name-calling, many names are being bandied about, just like you describe. In the history of mankind, I do not know if there is a proper name for this monster. It is an amalgamation of so many names for evil as proven throughout history.

But what if I call myself Tecumsquatch and put an end to this lack of rationality? If we wield our hammers, would it help anyone? Probably not. So I encourage honest people to speak their minds. Communication is almost as great as God.

Yes. Even only if it makes you “feel” better, as you say, Mark.

  8. We outsourced and now pay Dubai, Canada, China and fascists the CONTRACTS to deliver THEIR offshore and outofnation food, and fuel, instead of doing what Vermonters did to remain independent from fascists: rode em out of town on a rail, tarred and feathered, built small mills to make and deliver goods on BROOKS, preserved small farm land and farmers, made do and reused, warmed and built with wood (milled by that mill on the stream), …

Oh how wonderful greed is… imported and made the state motto: if its ours, its theirs first. Vermonters are our slaves. They are mushrooms and we like it that way.

  9. Why is Vermont’s budget 8.6 billion and we still can’t get decent road striping?
I know, part of the reason is the choice to use “environmentally friendly” paint, which doesn’t last long. The main reason is that we spend WAY TOO MUCH on public education with mediocre outcomes. The VT democrat and progressive parties are OWNED by the VTNEA teachers’ union.

  10. My 15 yr old twin grandsons live in El Paso TX . I just paid their tuition for their junior year of what is called a micro school. Interesting concept it’s like group home schooling. 2100.00 for each boy. I was dumbfounded as to the ability these boys have it felt like I was discussing Inflation, deflation and the economy in general with a college student. Strictly non Government funded. It could be done here folks

    • …not as long as Vermont’s legislature is OWNED by the VTNEA teachers’ union…

  11. The problem is no one understands that number, most cannot make change, do fractions, figure interest rates. Maybe a different perspective will help.

If you paid out $1 per second, to settle a $1 million debt would take less than 12 days.

To pay off $1 billion would take 32 years.

Paying off $1 trillion at a dollar per second? Nearly 32,000 years.

    • According to Thomas Massie (House of Representative from Kentucky), in his recent interview with Tucker Carlson, the U.S. National Debt is increasing at a rate of about $100,000 per second – not counting State debt, Municipal debt, business debt, or personal debt.

If paying off the National debt at a rate of $1 per second (i.e., 32,000 years per trillion times 34+-), it will take more than 1 million years to satisfy that debt. But that’s $99,000 per second short of what is needed.

Who cares? Our legislators are clearly products of our public education system, and they can’t add and subtract let alone multiply and divide.

    • Pardon me. I wasn’t the best math student either. Paying off the National debt at a rate of $1 per second isn’t $90,000 short of what’s needed. It’ll take an additional $99,999 per second.

  12. I am so sorry that I will be out of state next week and will miss the meeting. Hopefully you will have a report or another meeting that I will be able to attend.
