Planet Hank reports taser, pepper spray, cocaine incident in Brattleboro

“Brattleboro officers received a report of a physical altercation in the area of Elliot Street which possibly involved a
firearm. Brattleboro police responded with multiple officers and began investigating and were able to locate two males known to be involved in the incident. One victim reported he was struck with a taser and pepper spray….”

So begins the latest edition of Brattleboro News, a real crime video series produced by Hank “Planet Hank” Poytras of Brattleboro, a film school grad who started shooting street crime video as he was pursuing someone who had stolen his bike. Poytras – the newly elected chair of the Brattleboro GOP Town Committee – also offers ‘The Planet Hank Show’ news and commentary podcast.

  1. Since traditional journalism is on life support, with exceptions such as Vermont Daily Chronicle and it’s talented and dedicated contributors, it is refreshing to see more independent reporting. Crime reporting in particular is subject to political bias and suppression so as to not taint one end of the ideological spectrum and/or certain municipalities as being prone to lawlessness. Vermont Public radio and our local TV network affiliates can still be counted on to provide comprehensive coverage of craft fairs, festivals and 10 minute discussions about the day’s weather.
