As fall arrives, the outdoors call.
Wells River-based radio station WYKR has launched a new show, “The Outdoor Edge,” a revival of the “The Hunter’s Edge.”
The September 19 Journal-Opinion reports that the show, sponsored by St. Johnsbury Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, is hosted by station owner Joshua Smith.
The program airs twice a month, starting Sept. 5, and features expert insights on hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Each episode explores topics during hunting season like archery techniques, deer season strategies, field dressing, and predator hunting. The show aims to educate, entertain, and inform outdoor enthusiasts of all experience levels. Off-season episodes focus on broader outdoor themes like ice fishing, gardening, hiking, gear maintenance, wildlife conservation, and more.
“The Outdoor Edge is more than just a hunting show,” said host Joshua Smith. “We’re covering all aspects of outdoor adventure, sharing tips and stories to help people enjoy the incredible landscapes of Vermont and New Hampshire.”
The show will feature various guests, including wildlife biologists, experienced hunters, conservation officers, and outdoor gear experts. Listeners can expect to hear insights from knowledgeable voices across the outdoor community. You can also hear Mark Breen from the Fairbanks Museum with a hunters forecast
Episodes will be available on WYKR.com and through the WYKR app.
So if you missed the first one, you can still listen to NH Fish and Game Department’s Rebecca Fuda talk tips and strategies for the upcoming hunting season.

This article doesn’t address all the deer shot, being illegal or not and those deer that die because the hunter couldn’t find it. Four deer is more like 5-6. I heve seen dead deer in the woods and have called a Game Warden to investigate.
You will know there is a problem with the deer, when in the spring of the year you walk in the deer yards and count the number of dead deer.
If you want to decimate the deer herd in Vermont, keep slaughtering all the doe and
you’ll achieve that purpose, and that’s the plan !!
Wake up people, they don’t like your way of life and they’ll change it one step at a time, no breeding doe, no deer herd, no hunting……… what a plan, and you are falling for it, progressives will kill the state and the Vermont way of life.
Where has Vermont gone………………………
