A motorcyclist accused of traveling 123 MPH on Interstate 91, a fatal motorcycle crash in Dorset, an alleged assault at Central Vermont Medical Center and the recovery of a stolen vehicle are among incidents reported by Vermont police following the Labor Day weekend.

123 MPH motorcycle stop leads to DUI charge – Evan Santiago, 24, of Newbury was cited for DUI, excessive speed and negligent operation after Vermont State Police said they clocked his motorcycle traveling 123 MPH on I-91 North in Newbury Monday evening.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks were on routine patrol at about 5:53 PM when they spotted the motorcycle, police said.

After stopping Santiago, troopers said he showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. He was transported to the Bradford Outpost for processing and later released on a citation.

Santiago is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 23.

Danby man killed in Dorset motorcycle crash – Geoffrey E. Fuller, 28, of Danby died Sunday evening after his motorcycle left Morse Hill Road in Dorset and struck a tree, according to Vermont State Police.

Police, Dorset firefighters and Northshire Rescue responded near Kelleher Road at about 7 PM and found Fuller’s 2015 Victory Cross Country Tour off the roadway. Fuller, who police said was wearing a helmet, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

Fuller was traveling east on Morse Hill Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it is asked to contact the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks at 802-442-5421.

Woman accused of assaulting officer, health care provider –

Berlin police responded Monday to Central Vermont Medical Center after receiving a report of a vagrant woman who was “out of control” after being transported to the hospital by Montpelier police.

Police identified the woman as Nikita Laferriere, 39, described by police as a transient from Montpelier.

Berlin police listed the alleged offenses as disorderly conduct, simple assault on an officer and health care provider, and unlawful mischief.

Police said Laferriere was issued a flash citation ordering her to appear in court later Monday and was then transported back to Montpelier. The release did not provide details about the alleged assaults or property damage.

Stolen vehicle recovered in South Burlington – Colby Bevins, 29, of Huntington was arrested Tuesday after Vermont State Police and South Burlington police located a vehicle reported stolen in New Hampshire.

VSP said the Epsom, New Hampshire Police Department contacted troopers Monday seeking help locating a stolen vehicle believed to be in Chittenden County.

On Tuesday, troopers, with help from South Burlington police, located the vehicle on Garden Street in South Burlington. Police said Bevins was operating it. Bevins was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Williston Barracks for processing. He was later released on a citation for possession of stolen property, and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 3.
