Man charged with cruelty to his young child at store

A 39-year-old Randolph resident has been charged with two counts of cruelty to his child following a Vermont State Police investigation into incidents that occurred this month at a local store.

State police said the investigation began Sunday, Nov. 23, after a report alleging that Carmine Colajezzi had physically harmed his child, who is under the age of 5.

According to police, the injuries were sustained that day while Colajezzi was shopping at Central Supply in Randolph. Investigators later determined that a similar incident had taken place a week earlier, on Nov. 16, at the same location.

Colajezzi was taken into custody and arraigned Monday, Nov. 24, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Chelsea on two counts of cruelty to a child, a violation of Title 13 VSA 1304.

Further details are included in the affidavit of probable cause, which is available through the Criminal Court Clerk’s Office. The Vermont State Police said the investigation remains active.

    • Article says he physically harmed his child causing injury.

Unless you know them personally or are part of the systems handling the situation, I’d say that’s all the story one needs or is entitled to know.

    • Why did it take a SECOND incident at the SAME PLACE!!! a week later to finally lock him up???😠😠😭😭

  1. “Further details are included in the affidavit of probable cause, which is available through the Criminal Court Clerk’s Office.”

This is supposed to be a news article. Why are you forcing the reader to contact the “Criminal Court Clerk’s Office” (wherever and whatever that is) to find the details which the reporter should have already researched and included in the published story? Lazy and shoddy journalism.

  2. The most important word in this report is “alleging.” I have knowledge of this man, this child, this incident. You can bet the ranch these charges will be found baseless. Please remember that in America people are innocent until guilty, and here there is no guilt to be found. But if we rush to judgment, innocent people are harmed, and loving families as well.

  3. Welcome to 2025, & nosy people that have to know every body elses business! Correcting & disciplining your child now a days is considered abuse by this new generation. So it is possible this is what happened. Or he could have possibly picked the kid up & threw him into the shelves, breaking bones. Either way, if this was done, most of these stores have video survalience & truth is there. Regardless, untill this is discovered, y’all need to keep your mouths shut & quit gossiping! These comments travel like wild fire. When he is found innocent by law, he will then have to live with the comments & suspicions y’all have fabricated to destroy his life! If y’all worried about your own problems as much as you do every body elses, this world would be a much better place!
