A box truck plunged off a bridge and into the Ottauquechee River early Saturday morning after the driver lost control on Interstate 91 in Hartford, according to the Vermont State Police.
Troopers were dispatched at about 7:03 AM on November 22 to the area of mile marker 66.4 on I-91 north in Hartland. Police say the truck, a 2020 Isuzu FTR operated by 44-year-old James Sseggwanyi of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, veered off the roadway, broke through the left-side guardrail, and dropped from the bridge into the river below.
The truck was totaled. Sseggwanyi reported only minor injuries and declined transport to a hospital.
Weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
Hartland Fire Department, the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, the Agency of Transportation, Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, Sabil and Sons Towing, and Vermont State HAZMAT assisted at the scene.

Thankfully is wasn’t any worse than it could have been. God protected this man from more serious injuries.
And if he had died, would you have credited that to God also?
Fair question Joe!
Have you investigated and read about Jesus Christ? Most people have opinions on something to which they have read nothing or listened to nothing that describes the topic to which they profess to know and comment on.
Have you read the book of John? Acts? Romans? Corinthians?
What is your north star? What or whom do you follow? Or are you a man onto himself, all knowledgeable and understanding of the universe?
If one does even a cursory study of the Bible, they quickly find out that Christian faith is vastly different than all others, that perhaps the bible best describes what is going on in the world, past and present.
Take tour, investigate for yourself!
One thing I can tell you, I’m not in control, and if you think you are…well.
Challenging rather than respecting one’s faith. We must live in a blue state.
Why not? Tell us the plethora of evidence you hold that God doesn’t intervene in the world He so created? There must be proof for the belief that God doesn’t exist, correct?
I imagine it doesn’t include such testaments/authentications as:
Lourdes (over centuries of investigation/inquiry)
Fatima (over centuries of investigation/inquiry)
Shroud of Turin (cutting-edge 21st century science accredited)
Near Death Experiences (physician/university researched)
Eucharistic Miracles (university/scientist researched/sanctioned)
Lady of Guadalupe (same scientists verification/proven) etc., etc.
Not to mention of course the assertion of the Christ within the N.T.: “…For my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways.” contained within The Bible – the most read & researched ancient text and verified historical account in the world. What, in turn, is your verifiable, science-based, university & scientist accredited empirical evidences and testing that demonstrate otherwise and refute the possibility that intervention may have taken place in this or more importantly any given scenario in life, “Joe” in VT?
Meanwhile, Bible sales continue to increase & Catholicism alone continues to grow – up 10% over the past 25 years despite (or perhaps partly because of) paid to post propagandists online and those who mock adherents of faith.
Maybe atheists ought examine/research/utilize scientific disciplines to explain that phenomenon – as apparently and obviously derisive assertions haven’t produced the conclusion you sought.
The Shroud of Turin has been analyzed using radiocarbon dating by numerous independent organizations. Each group undisputedly confirmed that the item dates back to only the early 14th century.
Completely and totally incorrect, David Davis. The results the radiocarbon testing back in 1988(!) have been thoroughly and completely disproved by virtually EVERY SINGLE modern era scientist and scientific group who has investigated it personally & professionally.
But I knew that it would ultimately be “resurrected” by the atheists and disbelievers of all that the Catholic faith does in conjunction with today’s modern & cutting-edge scientific methods, just so they can feebly, as always, attempt to dissuade those who do not know the reality.
I’d say “nice” try, but it wasn’t. It’s old, it’s long disproven, it’s invalid & it’s discredited by a multiplicity of experts who you can read about on the internet & in texts on the subject available online by scientists who were a part of the newest rigorous testing & research.
Oh, and that flat earth theory has apparently been debunked too.
Next.
The radiocarbon testing is not old, it has not been thoroughly and completely disproved by virtually EVERY SINGLE modern era scientist and scientific group who has investigated it personally & professionally, it is not invalid & it has not been discredited by a multiplicity of experts.
I believe the rebuttals to the carbon dating that you are placing such an importance on are often labeled as “fringe” arguments by those with any real skin in the game. Fringe arguments being the ones that have been systematically disproven over time.
Others believe what they will, but I’ll stick to the tangible, still legitimate and accepted scientific facts concerning this historic item.
Been over that bridge many times, they say the weather was clear and road was dry. Was it his truck? Cell phone distraction? Hypnotized by the awesome view? I always want “the rest of the story” but these days “follow-up news” rarely exists.😑
possibly the common theme these days… “a medical emergency”…🙄
Accidents happen, that’s why they put erasers on pencils.
The radiocarbon testing was done in 1988. It has been —— as already stated and can be very easily attested to via a host of internet sites & entire books found online & the research highlighted by the recent exhibit on the shroud in the National Capital & the peer-reviewed articles in journals —– dismissed & discredited.
As per one of those journal’s findings: “….Five different modern era dating techniques now support a first century origin of the cloth completely CONTRADICTING the 1988 radiocarbon test results…..” The Shroud’s inherent image has also been proven to have been created by a blast of ultraviolet radiation consistent with the trans-physical resurrection of the physical body wrapped in the burial cloth as per the Biblical accounts.
Since the ancient artifact was exhibited and lectures provided only recently relatively close by in D.C., I’m unclear why the scientific expert scientists of VDC here didn’t refute the modern scientific findings at the locale with their own “accredited” & “scholarly” findings from their very own rigorous research using these decades’ old long controversial and now thoroughly INVALID tests. And unlike what you have learned from Saul Alinsky, repeating your untruth does not and has not made the masses somehow believe it as “truth”.
The Shroud of Turin, amongst the numerous other miracles & incidents listed above is but one of a litany of scientific testaments that confirm, through modern science, that Jesus – the historical figure was indeed the Christ.
But of course, despite no contradictory evidence or experiments via panels of experts – atheists know all; much as they “know” males can become females and Covid19 was never developed in a Chinese lab. Evidence abounds. In their own minds.
And why so much rapid hostility? I’m just over here trying to lightly debate some scientific dating methodology, but I’m quickly getting lumped in with arguments and behavior involving atheism trans rights and the rona. Yeesh
The only radiocarbon testing performed on the shroud was performed in the year 1988.
Since that was long ago proven faulty and is now consistently categorized as invalid, the following modern & cutting-edge scientific tests were performed over the last several years which include, but are not limited to:
1.) DNA testing
2.) Botanical experiments
3.) Fourier-Transform Infra-Red-Light testing
4.) Ramen-Laser Spectroscopy
5.) Multi-Parametric Mechanical Testing
6.) Pollen & coin analysis
7.) Vanillin Testing
All of the newer methods formally replace the old & controversial & limited “radiocarbon” test performed decades earlier and every one of the new tests affirm that burial cloth’s authenticity & dating accuracy to the era Jesus the Christ lived & died via crucifixion.
None of what you just wrote is as definitive as you make it out to be. The radio carbon dating is certainly not “consistently categorized as invalid” but I’ve learned to just say uncle when it comes to challenging faith.
I think this article paints a pretty fair picture. Even the major players involved acknowledge the challenges they’ve faced in confirming the true age of the item. Finding a satisfying answer may only be possible through one’s faith. https://www.newsweek.com/turin-shroud-study-claims-controversial-cloth-date-time-jesus-1942310
ALL of what I wrote can easily be accessed online on various science & theological websites including the exact dates and results in full detail – as opposed to an outdated and atheistic site that uses aforementioned already ascribed invalid testing methods. The information that properly includes & details all the latest scientific conclusions that testify to the authenticity of the fabric, for the third time, can also be accessed via text associated with the D.C. exhibit as attended by hundreds of scientists of all methodologies, learned theologians from around the world, and hundreds of thousands of lay people representing the growing population of the nearly 1.5 billion individuals who comprise the Catholic faith alone.
Again, whose numbers have increased nearly ten percent in the past quarter of a century completely undeterred by the atheists and propagandists who fight voraciously to diminish the faith of the general population by chronically spewing the usual ineffectual “arguments” and unsound theories to attempt to discourage the ever-strengthening proofs of God. Including, but hardly limited to the Shroud of Turin science.
Science is proving the existence of God, and atheists cannot accept the science and the reality of that science that are verifying it. God created natural law. God created man to uncover and understand natural law. And natural law confirms the Holy texts and accompanying historic & Holy artifacts and events that uphold and evidence His presence in all things.
We can now continue to state the exact same in different ways repetitively on VDC but the myriad & plentitude for the validity of the Holy origins of the Shroud of Turin exist aboundingly on the internet, in scholarly texts, in books & scientific journals, and in international exhibitions for the general populace to discover with ease.
Follow that Science.
Kathleen, I don’t need science to prove te existence of G-D that’s why it’s called faith. I do believe that science has caught up with many of the things told in scripture. One example is lightning: which doesn’t happen easily, because air is a poor conductor of electricity…so it needs to find the path of least resistance: hence Job 38:25 “Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;”.
As to the shroud of Turin (so called), I don’t believe it is legit, and I certainly don’t need it to believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus. The fact that all of the disciples (except John and Judas, of course) went to their deaths as martyrs maintaining the resurrection of Christ, is a pretty good reason to believe…people perpetrating a hoax aren’t willing to die for it. Hundreds of others saw the risen Messiah, that’s all I need to believe. John 20:6-7 “ Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.“ That would indicate that any fabric that had an image of a body would be two separate pieces. One would think also that if the miracle of resurrection would cause an image to be burned into a burial cloth that there would be a shroud from Lazarus’ body. As a recovered (former) catholic, I feel that the Roman church relies too heavily upon signs and mystical apparitions. It’s not necessary to have signs to believe in the miraculous workings of G-D. Matt 12:38-41 “38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here.”

How did a simple accident get so far off topic?
You can thank Joe 😂
Two commenters dared express their belief in God on a Vermont site and one went so far as to state that new scientific advancements complement the panorama of evidence for God that include the traditional theological and philosophical studies.
God works in mysterious ways

Did anybody look to see if he was in the illegal driving with an illegal license. And I’m sure he was on his phone. Distracted driving was the cause of that accident be thankful that he didn’t kill an innocent person
