God, Gideon, and the Vermont GOP – The LORD commissioned Gideon to lead Israel in a battle against the Midianites. Gideon gathered 32,000 soldiers. The Midianite army numbered 135,000.
The LORD told Gideon he had too many people, and instructed Gideon to dismiss those who were fearful. Allow me to dramatize: “All you weak-kneed, lily-livered cowards can go home. You are a liability to our mission.” Fear-filled minds make poor decisions, putting the whole company at risk.
Twenty-two thousand walked away. Only 10,000 remained.
Then the LORD told Gideon to dismiss soldiers who laid aside their shield and sword, got on their knees and buried their faces in water to drink, and retain the soldiers who lapped the water out of their hands. Why? Because those that buried their faces would not be able to see anything coming at them: they lacked vigilance. The soldiers that lapped water from their hands had their eyes open to their surroundings.
Only three hundred soldiers lapped water from their hands.
Gideon and his three hundred defeated the Midianites because the LORD was with them.
The Vermont GOP, in desperation for a quantity of members, has covered their eyes to the fact that Governor Phil Scott actively participates in the erosion of parental rights, gun rights, and the right to life: the essential principles of our country, our Constitution, and the platform of the Vermont GOP. There is no greater traitor. He needs to be sent away.
The Vermont GOP continues to allow Representatives Scott Beck, Joe Benning, Felecia Leffler, Paul Martin, Heidi Scheuermann, and Matthew Walker to proclaim their membership in the GOP despite their negligence in understanding the foreseen consequences of the intentionally vague language in Proposition 5 (Article 22) and voting to advance it. They failed to serve their constituents. Their faces are buried in the water.
The Vermont GOP proclaims in their platform to believe in God and the right to life, then acts in a way that clearly indicates they do not believe God is with them. And He is not. Because the GOP has walked away from Him rather than acting according to Him, in faith. – Renee McGuinness, Addison County
Pushing Paxlovid? – I have been reading the press releases regarding the State of Vermont (Vermont Department of Health) receiving extra allotments of Paxlovid for use in our state. It would appear our national government is pushing this particular drug from Pfizer. Judging by Dr. Mark Levine’s enthusiasm regarding our receiving a greater amount than what was previously allotted our state certainly sounds like he is advocating it as well.
My concern is that in Pfizer’s own words, this particular drug is not very useful for treating Covid and does have a significant number of side effects.
“These results, however, were not statistically significant and, as such, the primary endpoint of reducing the risk of confirmed and symptomatic COVID-19 infection in adults who had been exposed to the virus through a household contact was not met.”
Physicians around the world are resisting efforts to use this experimental drug, citing many reservations. Some are even concerned about the level of insistence by the White House that this drug be widely prescribed and used. I have not seen any reports by any media outlets on this topic. – Steven Waldo, Baltimore VT
45 admirals, generals oppose Iran nuke deal – It was troubling when former President Obama gave Iran millions to secure hostages and restrict temporarily their nuclear weapon development. Now President Biden has revived talks via Russia to permit Iran to have nuclear weapons and provide billions in cash even after his National Security Advisor called Iran a “sponsor of terrorism”.
The new Biden deal would lift all nuclear restrictions on Iran after two years with no limit on enhancing nuclear development. Russia would be entrusted with storing Iran’s enriched uranium. You can speculate Putin could use this uranium for his next conquest.
Recently, 45 retired generals and admirals sent an open letter to Biden warning against reviving the nuclear deal. “The new Iran deal currently being negotiated, which Russia has played a central role in crafting, will enable the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism to cast its nuclear shadow over the Middle East.” They further warned that our regional allies, who are now being attacked by Iranian terrorists, strongly oppose the deal.
The Biden Administration has fueled a lot of unrest in the region by abandoning the Arab\Israeli Abraham- Accord and allowing Iran to develop a nuclear bomb. The region is destabilized and new US funding to Iran will sponsor terror groups across the world.
Rarely do retired flag officers speak out on critical issues affecting our country. This open letter is a warning about reviving the disastrous nuclear deal. It’s a security threat we must avoid. – Frank Mazur, South Burlington
