Hardwick woman dies in 3-car crash

Sally Fontaine, 62, of Hardwick died after a three-vehicle crash Jan. 10 in Walden.

At about 9 am, State Police were notified of a two vehicle crash on Rt. 15, in Walden. Further information was provided that Fontaine was breathing but unresponsive.

Police say Fontaine was traveling south on Rt. 15 attempting to turn onto Sawmill Road. Dallas Ball, 26, of Sheffield was traveling North on VT 15, and observed Fontaine fail to yield when turning left. Fontaine’s 2005 Ford Focus struck the front of Ball’s 2020 Dodge Ram when traveling down the hill. Albert Perry, 58, of Jeffersonville was traveling South on VT 15 behind Fontaine. Her vehicle was spun around and made contact with the passenger side of Perry’s front bumper. The roadway was icy and slick at this time.

Both Ball and Perry were uninjured and were able to get out of their vehicles. Fontaine, who was wearing her seatbelt, was found to be unresponsive, and was transported to UVM Medical Center for life threatening injuries. She was later pronounced deceased while at the UVM Medical Center.
