In a surprise move last month, former Democrat Gov. Peter Shumlin endorsed the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor over the incumbent Democrat, David Zuckerman.
Why would he do that and what does it mean for the future of the Democrat slate of candidates for governor? Paul Bean and I discussed this question and other last-minute campaign issues of note on last Friday’s episode of Friday at Four.
Tune in Tuesday at 8 PM for our Live Election Night coverage from our new studio at 802 Scoop on Main Street in Barre.

This is one of the best podcasts yet. I first saw it on Granite GROK, and stated there that it’s curious this VDC podcast had not yet been published on VDC. So, here it is. And here is what I commented on Granite GROK.
The Peter Shumlin endorsement of John Rogers is clearly a two-edged sword. Shumlin certainly does have serious (EB-5) skeletons in his political closet.
But first, NH readers should understand that republican Lt. Governor candidate, John Rodgers, is a never-Trump, former democrat, who advocates for centralized government. He’s a proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing and fits a typical Vermont political profile. Is Rodgers a lesser of two evils candidate, especially when compared to David Zuckerman? You bet. But make no mistake. John Rodgers is anything but a traditional free market conservative. And Governor Phil Scott fits the same bill too.
Paul Bean gets it. Guy Page, although a little late to the party, is getting it too. Vermont is the poster child for progressive super-majority tyranny. And Vermont is going bankrupt as a result. Its legislature is in a state of chaos. Its House and Senate members are blaming anyone, everyone, and each other, for the dystopian policies they’ve passed. On the one hand, nothing makes sense. On the other hand, everything makes sense. Socialism doesn’t work. Never has. Never will.
Think about it. RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, former democrats all, join with Trump. Meanwhile, the RINO neocons like the Bushes, Dick and Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and John Bolton are joining the Democrats. Doesn’t that tell us there’s a major realignment of the political poles?
PS. Paul: Were there really a couple of hundred people in NYC standing outside the Trump tally trying to get into Madison Square Garden? I’ve worked in NYC for decades. Your observation is astounding to me.
“a couple of hundred THOUSAND people’…….
HJE– Peter Shumlin was in a real estate business. In East Montpelier there was a land owner that was sorta mentally impaired. Shumlin took advantage of the guy and bought the property. Then he assessed all sorts of penalties against the price and what he paid was a trickle of what the value was. Neighbors got wind of the dealings and were outraged. Shumlin caved in. I don’t know if he bailed out of the deal or not, this was a few years ago. As I recall Shumlin was from Poultney. Yup he Leaky Leahy, Sanders were all apart of the EB-5 scandal. Leaky while Senator wrote supporting letters to foreign prospective buyers / investors (getting Green Cards) at $500,000 per. They got robbed due to the bankruptcy of the ski areas of Jay Peal and Burke Mt.
I’ve been to those areas. Newport also was a victim. Wonder Leaky and Shumlin aren’t in a Gulag style housing. Liberal Democrats all.
The only thing going on in New York City is looting of all the stores and robbing people on the street.
Have you ever been to the big city big boy? I lived there for several years during the 90s when the crime rate was much higher and never felt unsafe for a moment.
Vermont is not just a bubble, it’s subverted, that’s why we are so different, it’s planned, it’s controlled……this site is the only one that allows free speech.
Trump/Abortion/Climate…..that is the narrative, the controlled narrative, that is why I think it would be SOOOO important for you guys to hold the Vermont debates. Otherwise, how can we have any change? They control all the press, all the debates, all the questions………what gets shown as sound bites……that everybody in Vermont hates Trump, so that is why Zuckerman is doing what he’s doing. He’s playing to the 60% base, 60% gets you a victory. It will be interesting to see how many vote for Rodgers, I think we’ll find most just vote straight D….that’s what they are betting on.
What you guys do not see are all the networks and feeds that those who donate to the VTDEMS post and see……if you did you would understand how powerful and elaborate it is. People of Vermont think VPR is unbiased and accurate reporting. When you swim in those channels, you can appreciate how Vermont has gone a certain direction and stays there. From a limited view, it all makes sense.
Wear that VDC censorship badge from Front Porch Forum with pride!!! The control in Vermont is so strong they have surely labeled the VDC as a tin foil racist production to which no sane person should ever venture……..or be cancelled…which is how they keep people within the fold.
If you investigate subversion, all of what is going on in Vermont makes perfect sense, control in the progressives, dems, and rinos…..aka uniparty moves us away from a republic to a democracy, which is highly unstable and used for a transition government, an oligarch, essentially what we have in Vermont. We are the first colony in the united states.
It’s a big game board…..but it all makes sense when you get the decoder ring. Here is video for people to review, put everything in place for me……it all makes sense.
Neil, did you catch New Hampshire Congressional candidate Maggie Goodlander is the wife of Jake Sullivan, The Biden’s National Security advisor? They are all connected, selected, and placed by design = in-laws, outlaws and treasonous, degenerate, venomous snakes.
No I did not, doesn’t surprise me. I’m trying to inform people of the process that Vermont has gone through. Why we are the way we are.
Propaganda is chin deep in this state, it’s not easy to breathe sometimes without swallowing the b..s.
It’s pretty easy to control this state. They’ve got New England going the direction of England, hopefully no hate speech laws coming soon.
Unwinding a subverted state is going to rake some effort and skill.
