A devastating fire broke out at the Sugarbush Resort Golf Club Wednesday night September 24 at about 10:30 PM, reducing the Clubhouse and Hogan’s Pub to irreparable ruins. The Warren Volunteer Fire Department, alongside the Waitsfield and Fayston Fire Departments, responded swiftly to the blaze.

No injuries were reported. However the Clubhouse and Hogan’s Pub suffered irreparable damage.

“We want to sincerely thank the Warren, Waitsfield, and Fayston fire departments for their hard work and professionalism. We are currently working through a plan to continue golf operations for the remainder of the season and will share more information as soon as we have it,” wrote a Sugarbush Resort spokesperson on the resort’s Facebook page.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The resort is actively developing a plan to maintain golf operations for the remainder of the season and promises to provide updates as soon as possible.

  1. Memories of Sugarbush…In the 1970s a membership cost $90 for locals, greens fees (play all day) were $3, and a thick hamburger in the clubhouse was under $2. When greens fees were raised to $6, many of us were ‘outraged’ and quit attending. And this was a Robert Trent Jones professionally designed course. We didn’t know how good we had it back then.
