Evslin: Ukrainian bravery will unite the US

Ukraine Vs. Goliath by Dan Jeffries

By Tom Evslin, Fractals of Change

Nothing is as inspiring as the brave Ukrainians fighting against Putin’s brutal invasion. The TV cameras show the expected stream of refugees escaping – mostly women and children, then pan over to the Ukrainian men going back to save their country. Each morning I wake up and quickly check my phone to see if that flag still waves over Kyiv. Like most people I assumed that a Russian blitzkrieg would immediately succeed. I hardly dare to hope. But I do.

Amazingly NATO has come together. Germany nixed Nord Stream 2, made concrete plans including LNG terminals for energy independence from Russia, and began budgeting the 2% of its GDP which is supposed to go to NATO – and released weapons for Ukraine. The sanctions declared by NATO – and others like Japan and even Switzerland – really have teeth. Turkey has indicated it will exercise its treaty rights to prevent some Russian warships from entering the Black Sea. Finland and Sweden are considering joining NATO as it has become clear why NATO protection is needed.

In the US it seems that everyone from Bernie Sanders and The Squad on the left to Mitch McConnell, Liz Cheney, and even Kevin McCarthy supports the need to support Ukraine. That’s a very broad spectrum. Yeah, Trump thinks Putin is a “genius”; but we already know Trump isn’t fit to hold public office. Yes, the extreme left (and some on the right) says the whole blow-up is our fault because we allowed countries escaping the Soviet Union to join the NATO defensive alliance See a damning critique of the idiocy of the Democratic Socialists of America.

But bitterness in America runs so deep that even normally sensible people are preoccupied with throwing fellow Ukrainian supporters out of the tent for their real or imagined past sins. @billkristol tweeted “It’s worth remembering now, as so many Republicans pin ‘Stand with Ukraine’ images to their profiles, how little most of them cared when Trump withheld military assistance from the country in 2019 as he pressured Zelensky to do his political dirty work.” I don’t think he really means to say that anyone who failed to denounce Trump shouldn’t be allowed to support Ukraine. A lesson we all should have taken (Putin, too) from this episode is that Zelensky is no pushover for bullies.

Do we want to say that Bernie Sanders, after a lifetime of being an apologist for Russia and leftwing dictators, shouldn’t now be allowed to support Ukraine? Hell, no. Welcome to the tent, Bernie. Does Obama have to apologize for sending socks (or was it gloves?) to Ukraine after the Russian annexation of Crimea before he’s allowed to support Biden on Ukraine? Nope. All support welcome.

Before WWII there were a significant number of Americans (including Lindberg) who were pro-Hitler and an uncomfortable number of Nazis as well. Before Hitler invaded Russia, American communists (including my parents) were against the US getting involved in that war. After Pearl Harbor there were rumors Roosevelt had deliberately ignored intelligence that the attack was coming so the American public would support the war after the day that has lived in infamy. The great and strong and broad middle of America came together in support of that war. We must come together now no matter what we were wrong about in the past. Putin is counting on our not being able to do that; sowing disunion is a specialty of his.

Our unity might just prevent another world war.

  1. This article is a distraction. It falls for the Blackrock Wag the Dog distraction. Excellent analysis of the Russian-Ukraine situation may be found at

    https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/02/28/former-russian-ambassador-and-current-cia-director-bill-burns-knew-exactly-what-would-trigger-vladimir-putin-to-enter-ukraine/

“If the U.S. was simultaneously influencing Ukraine military to keep targeting the breakaway regions in Eastern Ukraine, well, put it all together and a picture emerges of the people in/around the White House setting up a scenario for months that led up to Russia finally taking the bait and going into Ukraine.

The New York Times expose’ of U.S. intelligence contacting China should be reviewed from the perspective that U.S. intelligence and State Dept operatives were planting information into China – knowing it would be shared with Russia. The U.S. intelligence apparatus, with CIA Director Bill Burns in place, was seeding information into Russia via China for three months prior to the triggering point. Bill Burns would know exactly what type of intelligence would be needed to create maximum anxiety for Vladimir Putin.”

  2. You don’t think the U.S. Biolabs (up to 15) funded by the DOD that were throughout Ukraine had anything to do with Putin’s actions. If I know one thing in regard to what we are being told about Ukraine; it is that the mainstream media and the U.S. Government are distorting the facts at the least and outright lying to us more likely.

  3. Whenever a majority of the population supports a war–fueled by Big Media propaganda, as we saw before invading Iraq–I turn the other way. Evslin hasn’t a clue of the true geopolitics here, otherwise he would have said something about the US-engineered coup in 2014 and the relentless aggression against ethnic Russians in Donbass since then. Putin doesn’t want NATO missiles parked on his border, no more than JFK wanted Soviet missiles parked in Cuba. It’s a dangerous game.

James Baker promised Gorbachev we wouldn’t expand NATO “one inch further” east. Well, we did a lot more than that. Now we get the blowback. That’s not something to celebrate, but rather it’s a reminder that the US needs to worry more about its own affairs rather than what happens on the other side of the planet.

  4. I suspect Evlsin is contemplating a poltical run. Why else would he publish so many articles? – nonsensical as most are.

  5. Putin is cleaning out the corruption that the cabal ridden US will not.
He is using great care to do as little damage as possible, yet doing the job.
The largest contributions to the fraudulent Clinton Foundation was Ukraine.
Pelosi, Kerry, Romney, & Biden had kids being paid millions from Ukraine. These are the same people who impeached Trump and failed.
Ukraine is the money laundering center for the cabal.
    Soros operate out of there.
    Putin hates Soros.
    Putin is draining the swamp.
The world will be a better place as a result.

If Putin is “draining the swamp” in Ukraine, and considers NATO to be equally corrupt, what is he to do? For Sweden and Finland to suggest joining NATO, that is threatening.

    I wish Putin great success.

  6. Is this guy kidding? I’m 1/2 Ukrainian & still have relatives there but a “democracy” Didn’t they arrest the opposition candidate & shut down opposition TV & media too? These folks drink like the Irish & are as corrupt as any African nation. They likely stopped bank transactions AFTER Hunter Biden’s checks cleared, “10% going to the Big Guy”. My favorite of Evslin’s? “The TV show..” They “show” what they WANT SHOWN, no bodies of children shelled for the past 8 years in the Donbass. I get the feeling we are being HERDED like sheep. Sure we KNOW Putin sucks, so WHY did Hunter take/get $3.5 Million from Putin’s buddies widow? This whole thing REEKS, anyone remember the Kuwaiti Ambassador’s daughter crying to our Congress about the Iraqi brutes throwing babies out of incubators onto the floors? And WHY did Biden INVITE this w/his “limited incursion” BS a few weeks ago? Count me out of this Lemming Run, thanks.

  7. BTW–“Germany nixed Nordstream 2”? And new LNG? WHERE from? NOT Biden’s USA.According to US EIA we import 22 Million Bbl.’s of oil monthly from Putin, that’s about 5.5 Million/week, and at $100/Bbl. we GIVE Putin $60 to $78 Million for some 785,714 Bbl.’s of Russian Oil DAILY? When we were EXPORTING oil & gas during Trump’s term, a guy Evslin says “was unfit to hold office”? Which did you hate worse sir? The peace or the prosperity?

  8. EXCERPT from:

THE UKRAINE PLOT IS THICKENING WITH GERMANY AND FRANCE BARELY IN LOCKSTEP WITH US/UK-LED NATO
    https://www.windtaskforce.org/profiles/blogs/the-plot-is-thickening-with-germany-and-france-no-longer-in

I wrote this article, because Russia-hating, extremists in the US State Department and US Congress have been using NATO to pressure first the USSR, then Russia.

They have been deluding impoverished, corrupt Ukraine with future membership in the EU and NATO, since 1990
They have been weaponizing Ukraine since the US-instigated Color Revolution/coup d’etat in 2014
Millions of Russian-speaking Ukrainians, mostly in East Ukraine, decided not to support the Kiev government.
The US instigated Ukraine not to implement the Minsk 2 agreements, to keep the pot boiling

The US and UK supplied huge quantities of defensive and offensive weapons, plus military training personnel to Ukraine, so it could “defend itself”

    Russia made certain demands regarding:

    1) NATO encroachments beyond East Germany starting in 1997 (after pledging not to do so in 1990)
    2) The indivisibility of Russian and European security.

The US/UK-led NATO rejected the demands, and offered to talk about important, albeit peripheral issues.

Ukraine hot-heads floated the idea of Ukraine having an “Iron Dome” similar to Israel, and reacquiring nuclear weapons
Russia finally reacted. The result is a shooting war in Ukraine.

The EU is partially at fault, as it did not assert itself regarding the Kiev coup d’etat in 2014
The EU decided to become an aider and abettor of US policy goals regarding Ukraine in 2014, and onwards
The EU ended up being maneuvered into its present predicament, which is at variance with EU vital interests.

  9. Ukraine bravery, augmented with lethal NATO weapons, and more than several thousand highly experienced mercenaries, appears to have slowed down Russian forces.

However, Russian forces will be taking off the gloves, and do some major damage to all sorts of infrastructure; in military parlance: “softening enemy positions”

Russia will disable, with remote missiles, almost all major government buildings, at night when they are empty, and TV and radio towers, and power plants, and military basis (as part of demilitarizing/de-NAZI-fying Ukraine), and communication centers, etc.

    Eventually nothing will function.
There will be several million additional refugees to Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, etc.

All this would have been avoided, if NATO had kept its promise, made in 1990, not to expand beyond East Germany

Secretary of State Wolfowitz issued a US Defense plan for 1994 to 1999, that included the expansion of NATO, i.e., expand US geo-strategic objectives.

The US Congress approved the expansion of NATO in 1998.

Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic were admitted to NATO in 1999

At present, the US Government-US Media complex is repeating, ad nauseum, all this has nothing to do with NATO expansion, but everything to do with evil Putin:

    1) Wants to deny Ukraine’s right to exist;
    2) Wants to reestablish the greatness of Russia,
    3) Hates freedom and democracy

If Russia’s attack on Ukraine has nothing to do with NATO expansion, how come so many western experts have spent decades warning NATO expansion would lead to an attack on Ukraine?

Spinmeister, former Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, facetiously pretends: “This thing (i.e., NATO expansions), we were warned about for decades, was never anything anyone ever mentioned, until the end of last year”
    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/experts-warned-years-nato-expansion-would-lead

  10. This leftist propaganda shouldn’t have been given the time of day here. Obviously, this Evslin character is – wittingly or not – so out of touch with the objective truth he offends the intelligence of those among us that have objectively reviewed the situation. Perhaps he should stick to absorbing whatever CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX instruct him to and keep his uniformed opinion to Seven Days and VT Digger..

  11. I’m somehow not surprised this guy’s parents were communists. What an idiot.

Who wants to tell him about Ukraine’s past & present Nazis, from Bandera to Azov, and who trained Right Sector snipers to shoot both protesting sides during the US sponsored Maidan coup, tipping the final overthrow of a democratically elected government in 2014?

Jeezus, these guys see one patsy with a Confederate flag in Canada and they lose it. Obama & Biden funded actual, literal neo-Nazis who’ve been terrorizing the ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine for almost a decade.

  12. One of “The Laws of Large Numbers”. The larger the group the lower the average I.Q.

  13. Where your mask and stay six feet apart! Stand with Ukraine! MK Ultra yet again with slogans, color codes and a new purpose for the fist and grand symbolism. Wag that dog! Sean Penn is there to make sure the movie is directed as directed. Globilists and WEF are in overdrive and economic collapse incoming. Why was there no gas other than super Cumby’s yesterday?

  14. Belarus and Kazakhstan

In 2021, Belarus had a color revolution supported by Western-financed/influenced NGOs, fanning the flames of dissatisfaction, etc.

In 2022, Kazakhstan suddenly had a color revolution, after the government raised energy prices.

Russia had been monitoring Kazakhstan’s dealing with the West for years.

Here is Joe and Hunter Biden wheeling and dealing in Kazakhstan
    https://nypost.com/2020/10/20/photo-biden-meets-hunters-alleged-partner-from-kazakhstan/

Russia had prepared what was needed to send up to 3,000 troops into Kazakhstan within about 2 to 3 days.

The Kazakhstan President invited Russia to help end the color revolution.

Blinken, et al., said he was surprised by Russia’s quick response, but “we will not give up on Kazakhstan.”
