Obituary

Elouise “Ellie” Ann Martin

Ellie Martin, 85, of Underhill, Vermont, passed away on July 22, 2026.

Born June 1, 1941, in Morrisville, Vermont, she was one of thirteen children born to Francis and Pearl Sevene. Ellie grew up in Morrisville and later made her home in Essex, Jericho, and Underhill.

She married her first husband, Henry George Guay, and became the mother of Steven and Janet. After that she met her second husband, Glenn Howard Martin at a Parents Without Partners meeting.  Glenn was a parent to Eric, Brian & Laurie Martin.  Ellie and Glenn enjoyed a whirlwind courtship and were married on Valentine’s Day just four months later.  Their family became a beautiful “his, hers, and ours” household when Kriste was born.

Ellie loved her family deeply – her six children, fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She loved Jesus, life, learning, meeting new people and sharing those things with others. Ellie, a natural motivator and entrepreneur, began her career in real estate at the age of nineteen and took great joy in helping others achieve the dream of home ownership.  She later opened the Vermont Shade Art Studio, where she taught art classes and sold supplies.  She then went on to found Vermont Grass Roots LLC.  Through Vermont Grass Roots she organized events and brought nationally recognized speakers to Vermont.  As chair of the Underhill Republican Party, she worked to promote and support candidates and encourage bipartisan conversation about the issues that she cared so much about.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mansfield Barn 3 Irish Farm Rd. Jericho, VT. Following the service will be a reception and celebration of life.   Please visit www.awrfh.com to share your memories and condolences.

  1. Ellie sounds like an exceptional soul. Rest in peace Ellie, and peace to your family and friends.

  2. Ellie was an extraordinary person who was an American patriot to the core. The VTGrassroots.com website has been taken down. She loved God and Country.

If any would care to leave comments about events that she skillfully orchestrated to wake Grassroots Vermonters to what has been unfolding here, I would appreciate seeing a full list. Eric Metaxis and Gordon Chang were the first to come on 9/11/21 Vthope.net/911 and then Bill Federer’s amazing whirlwind of the history of global governance

and then Pat Breggan with the Global Covid Summit – vthope.net/covidts Please add to this list.
