A resident of Orleans is facing a slew of charges after crashing into a house in Coventry yesterday.
The Newport Fire Department, Vermont Electric Co-Op, and State police responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into a residence on Main Street in Coventry at around 10:30 p.m.
The driver was identified as 22-year-old Jesse Shaw.
Following an investigation, police say the crash was caused by Shaw’s negligent operation, and caused significant damage to the residence.
Police say nobody inside the home sustained any injuries.
Shaw had active court-ordered conditions of release to include a curfew and a condition not to consume alcohol.
He sustained minor injuries during the crash and was transported by Newport EMS to North Country Hospital.
While at the hospital police say they determined Shaw had consumed alcohol prior to crashing, and Trooper Rice stated that Shaw began to act in a “tumultuous, threatening behavior and was using obscene language.”
After Shaw was released from the hospital, he was transported to the Derby Barracks for processing.
He is facing charges of DUI, negligent operation, disorderly conduct, and violation of conditions of release.
