Church hit by gunfire / Rutland drug bust / Career crook jailed without bail

Police are investigating a shooting incident that took place in Groton this morning.

Authorities say they were notified of gunshots in the area of the 1st Baptist Church at around 11:00 a.m. Police say they located evidence of the building being struck by rounds.

No one was hurt, according to the Vermont State Police. Evidence located suggested someone may have been target shooting in the area. State police are requesting any information regarding anyone that uses the stump dump for target practice.

Rutland drug bust – Rutland City Police located and seized fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine during the execution of the search warrant in Rutland Thurday.

Tammy Rheaume, 55 of Rutland, was arrested for fentanyl trafficking, possession of cocaine, and possession of heroin. Jack Hopper, 49 of Rutland, was arrested for cocaine sales. Alan Frasier, 39 of Rutland, was arrested for possession of heroin and possession of cocaine.

All were lodged in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Alleged career criminal jailed without bail – A St. Johnsbury resident has been arrested on multiple charges after fleeing from police on Thursday, state police say.

Eli Farrington, 48, was charged with criminal DLS, receiving stolen property, aggravated operation without consent of owner, impeding public officers, resisting arrest, and being a habitual criminal.

State troopers were notified of a stolen vehicle in St. Johnsbury and located the vehicle on Washington Ave. After identifying Farrington as the operator, troopers went to a house where Farrington was located. When law enforcement arrived, Farrington jumped out of a window and fled on foot.

One of the passengers also fled on foot but was later found and taken into custody.

Farrington then got into another vehicle and attempted to leave the area but was stopped by police at the intersection of Elm Street and Concord Ave. Farrington was taken into custody and lodged without bail due to an active Violation of Parole arrest warrant. – Newport Dispatch
