Air quality advisories for “sensitive groups” are in effect today in Vermont as Canadian wildfire smoke pushes heads our way.
In Vermont, the air quality advisory is in effect, at least for now, until midnight with conditions already deteriorating in parts of the state.
The State of Vermont says “sensitive groups” include people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens: Reduce your exposure by choosing less strenuous activities or shortening the amount of time you are active outdoors. Everyone else: Enjoy your outdoor activities.
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services is expecting concentrations of fine particle air pollution to potentially reach unhealthy levels for sensitive individuals in all parts of the state on June 29 and June 30.
The advisory suggests a possible return of conditions similar to last weekend’s haze, when an air quality alert was issued for several Vermont counties due to fine particle pollution from Quebec wildfire smoke.
The alert remained in effect from 1 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Monday, and applied to Grand Isle, Franklin, Orleans, Essex, Chittenden, Lamoille, Caledonia, Washington, and Addison counties. The air quality index in these areas exceed the Orange, or “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” category.
The ANR says that communities near the Canadian border may still experience conditions deteriorating into the Red, or “Unhealthy for All Groups” category. During the week, the air quality cleared thanks to a southerly wind.

If you have them ( people who are having issues w/ the air) bring plants around indoors to filter the air. Works for us and my wife has breathing issues.
No forest management = forest fires! We need to sue Canada, California and the federal government for halting the great paying jobs of forest management, just so they could blame it on “global warming”! They are now polluting the very air we breathe because of it! 😡
A person from Gatineau PQ researched the areas where the fires are burning.
The map coincides with the same sites where land rights are set for mining of resources used for manufacturing climate change initiatives – i.e. lithium, nickel, etc. Coincidence? In Alberta and British Columbia, the RCMP reports multiple arrests for arson – reportedly some perps are members of extinction rebellion. Also, reports the government of Canada rebuked a group of veteran firefighters who were staging to fight the fires in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Alberta. They were told to stand down and not allowed to help. The war is real.
Forest fires in Canada are nothing new. Yes, there’s an increase in fires this year compared to last year. But, on average, the current Canadian forest fires are not abnormal.

When satellite imagery shows numerous fires starting simultaneously in various locations in PQ(since scrubbed from the internet if I’m not mistaken) that is normal? Years ago, a fire in Ontario/PQ had smoke billowing into Vermont. Every where it smelled like a woodstove and the haze hung low. Reports out of Michigan and Indiana say the smell is like burning plastic, burning eyes and irritated throats. Sure…that is normal.
