Still short on officers four years after first Defunding
By Michael Bielawski
Four years after getting defunded by their City Council, the Burlington Police Department continues to struggle with keeping an effective officer count available for public safety, as reported on Vermont’s premier news website dedicated to law enforcement, KeepVermontSafe.com.
Overall from when defunding began via attrition starting in 2020, the department went from 91 available officers to a low of just 51 by August of 2022.

The report states, “In June 2020, the Burlington City Council voted to reduce, by attrition, the BPD’s authorized headcount from 105 to 74. An officer exodus ensued. In Oct 2021, the council raised the cap from 74 to 87, but it was not until a new, strong police contract was ratified in July 2022 that headcount stabilized. We are now working to rebuild.”

burlington///// will you be shopping at the queen city////
On monday, WCAX had posted a news story about the recent mayhem night in Burlington and the police shortage. On tuesday, the story is wiped from their site.
Nothing to see here folks, please move along…
Interview some police officers, go out with them to retail establishments on their beat, so me the following statement below is NOT true, when it’s happening across the state. Business tied with any corporation will not cooperate because they want to sell product, not be in the press or political, it’s standard protocol for any large corporation, don’t do interviews.
Here’s some real-life notes from the ground on what is going on in Vermont, a customer told an associate of a store, here is a list of the criminals stealing from your store, they have a house full of stolen products, they knew the name of all the thieves. the police knew all their names…..they are on face book and craigslist openly selling all sorts of stolen merchandise, it’s rampant across the entire state. The criminals openly fill shopping carts and leave the premise of retail outlets, without a fear of being in trouble. They openly talk about how nothing will happen to them; they know the system.
Customers are livid.
Employees are livid
Police are livid.
Companies are livid.
Everybody is upset, except for criminals and legislature. What does that tell you?
So, what gives? What gives Governor Scott? Even if you couldn’t get laws you wanted passed, you could at the very least be screaming from the top of every dairy barn, from every retail outlet saying this ,IS NOT RIGHT!
The VtGop could be making a fuss. This is all B.S….
We have rampant crime, in the leading progressive foot hold, because birds of a feather flock together, coming soon to a community near you….oh, wait a minute it’s already here in every town! Drug dealers and criminals….no issues. Put the cupola too high and you’ll be in court. Vermont is whacked. I stand corrected…. Vermont legislature is whacked.
The legislature doesn’t get all the credit for being whacked…there is an elected (and re-elected) prosecutor in Chittenden County who is supposed to be making rational decisions about how to handle serious crimes that have real victims.
I’d say yes and no to that. Part of the problem is, instead of educating people about our republic, about corruption, about truth, we have for 20-40 years been educating people to be marxist in thought and deed. So instead of creating educated Americans we have propagandized marxists, who think democracy is at stake, when in fact our forefathers avoided democracy like the plague it is.
And democracy is what Vermont is operating partially under, whereby a majority, that happen to be paid by the taxpayer, keep voting for pay raises and more spending because, majority rules rather than law ruling the land.
Towns for example are voting to fund non-profit organizations with your tax money, this is clearly a fraud and against the constitution. Why under penalty of tax foreclosure do I need to support any non-profit, it doesn’t matter how good the nonprofit is. We can donate our own personal money to the non-profit.
There may not be systemic racism, but surely there is systemic marxism in our state. We are creating our own problems, it’s by design, it’s the first part of the playbook for subverting a state, of which we have experienced.
