On December 6, at around 8:39 in the morning, the Burlington Fire Department received a call about a construction worker who got trapped under a heavy slab of concrete at the CityPlace Burlington construction site on 130 Bank Street. When the firefighters arrived, they found someone stuck under a big concrete box that had partly slipped off a tall truck.
The firefighters and the construction workers already there worked together to make sure the concrete box didn’t move any further. They used wooden blocks to keep it steady and a special forklift with a long arm to lift the box safely. With their combined efforts, they successfully freed the trapped worker from under the concrete box.
After being rescued, the injured construction worker was quickly taken to the UVM Medical Center to get checked out and treated.
