Rob LaClair of Montpelier announced today, Wednesday April 29, on Hot Off The Press on WDEV that he is running for the Washington County Senate in 2026.
The three Senate seats are now held by Sens. Anne Watson of Montpelier, Andy Perchlik of Marshfield, and Anne Cummings of Montpelier. All three are Democrats. LaClair is a Republican.
LaClair said he is not running with an established policy agenda, but instead will be listening to constituents’ concerns and proposed solutions.
LaClair was born in Montpelier. He graduated from U-32 High School in East Montpelier.
A local businessman, LaClair was a member of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, serving as President, Captain, and Interior Firefighter. He served on the U-32 School Board and the Washington Central Supervisory Union. He was a member of the board for Our House in Barre and Vice Chair of the Barre Town Selectboard.
In the Legislature, LaClair was the Ranking Member on the House Government Operations committee and the Assistant Minority Leader.

Wow! Rob LaClair was a great representative, and he’ll make a tremendous senator!
Great news, the senate is the most strategic route for stopping the insanity…and picking only a few seats can tip the scales towards that end.
Good luck!
You will not live long enough to see the end of this clown show in Vermont.
