On Chronicle Conversations at noon today on WVMT AM 620 FM 101.3 and WVMTradio.com, Burlington Daily News editor Kolby LaMarche and I will talk about the Burlington City Council pleading for state funding for a big new homeless shelter, for reopening psychiatric beds, and expanding other services for Vermont’s endemic vagrant population.
Just as vagrants should expect work on their issues in return for free services, should the City of Burlington be required to mend its faux-compassionate ways in exchange for state assistance?

Where do these idiots get these insane ideas? First you attract homeless vagrants to your city with a lack of enforcement, give them food and lots of benefits, a scenic place to feed their addiction and now you want the rest of the State of Vermont to foot the bill? Big, beautiful shelter. Sure, go right ahead and build whatever you want, just don’t send the bill to the rest of us trying to lead an industrious life in the rest of the state. I would however, send vast sums of money to the State to build a huge wall around the City of Burlington with one-way gates (you can go in but not come out). Let the Progressives have their “ideal society”. You can even rename the city Utopia or whatever you want. Just leave the rest of us out of it. Just like raising children, sometimes you have to say no.
Would call in….but I’m sooo out of touch with VERMONT politics. Wish you well w this new audio venture.
COTS was tried in Burlington –a failure, I think or worse….long ago.
