Attempted murder by stabbing in Stamford

The Vermont State Police is investigating a stabbing that occurred early Thursday, Nov. 17 at a home on Jepson Road in the Bennington County town of Stamford.

The suspect, Benjamin Taylor, 24, a resident of the Jepson Road home, was arrested by troopers on charges of attempted murder and first-degree aggravated domestic assault, state police say. The victim, a 52-year-old man who also resided in the house, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition for treatment of injuries that are not believed at this time to be life-threatening.

Police were notified at 12:34 a.m. about an altercation and stabbing that had occurred at the home. Responding troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks and rescue personnel were able to locate the victim and provide medical care. Benjamin Taylor was taken into custody without incident at the residence. He is being processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks and is expected to be arraigned at 1 p.m. today in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Bennington.

The Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team will be at the house today to process the scene.

  1. This is a perfect example of how futile new gun laws will be at reducing violent crime. The problem is not what is in one’s hand but rather their heart/mind. This is the classic situation when the sarcastic remark comes that we need common sense knife control. Sadly the remark isn’t too far off from reality when the rabid anti gun thinking is allowed to progress to to its final stage. In England for example, after the public was disarmed of guns, (long ago) we saw shortly before the plandemic consumed all the media oxygen, that knife attacks were becoming more and more commonplace. They did indeed then begin to control the carrying of knifes, and there were knife drop boxes to surrender your knife no questions asked. Violence is always the result of the perpetrator choosing wrong, we need only hold those individuals accountable for their actions and not punish the rest of society instead.
