Abortion clinic sidewalk vigil organizer invokes Silent Cal

By Guy Page

A persistent group of about 20 people prayed to end abortion and provided public witness on the sidewalk in front of the Barre Planned Parenthood facility for the better part of an hour Sunday, October 16.

Sunday morning, 40 Days for Life organizer Kelly emailed supporters words of encouragement written in 1929 by then-former President Calvin Coolidge, and no doubt repeated by himself and others as America endured the Great Depression:

“Our Vermont-born 30th President of the United States put it this way: ‘Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.  Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.  The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

The 40 Days for Life campaign continues through November 6, the day of the final rally. For more information, contact thomaskelly.tom@gmail.com or visit the website, http://www.40daysforlife.com.
