Celebrate Flag Day, Army & Trump birthdays on State House lawn

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Vermonters are invited to come celebrate three birthdays, wave a flag and have some birthday cake this Saturday on the Vermont State Capitol lawn.

“This Saturday, June 14th at 11 AM to 1 PM, we will tip-our-hats and celebrate three very important events in American lives; the adoption of our United States of America Flag, President Donald J. Trump ‘s birthday, and the birth of the U.S. Army. Come join us,” organizer Greg Thayer said.

The American Flag is 248 years old, adopted on June 14, 1777. President Trump’s birthday is June 14, 1946, he will be 79 years young. The United States Army was born 250 years ago on June 14, 1775. “That is a lot to celebrate,” Thayer said.

  1. Not sure if celebrating the birthday of the Supreme Leader sets a good precedent. We don’t usually do that for sitting Presidents, and we have MUCH better uses of the time and money.

    • I beg to differ. We have a national holiday celebrating former U.S. Presidents’ birthdays. JFK’s birthday was celebrated with Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday” to him. Popular Presidents’ birthdays are indeed celebrated. We haven’t had this kind of patriotism and enthusiasm since Ronald Reagan.

    • It is a free event so you are not spending any money. This is still a free country so people can meet peacefully and celebrate anything they want, as long as they aren’t burning down cities, looting and murdering people.

  2. Happy Birthday, Mr. President,
    Happy Birthday to you!

On Flag Day at my grade school in the 1960s, we would all troop out to the flag pole and sing patriotic songs. Does anyone else remember doing this? One of them went:

    “Red for dauntless courage,
    White for purity,
    Blue for sacred honor,
    Flag of victory!”

My father and uncle were U.S. Army veterans. It’s going to be a great day.

    AMERICA THE MERCIFUL

    By Ellin Anderson

We are in Eden — have no doubt
The greatest bounty is spread out
Before us, as we work and play
In God’s own land, the USA.
Amid the powers of Heaven and Hell,
I pray that we will use it well
    Because no other nation’s graced
As such — so much — beware the waste
    Of purple mountains’ majesty
Within the soul — a travesty
    If it confuses and embroils
The users who lay waste the spoils.

What do we have — where to begin?
I’ll never hear my door kicked in
At that small cottage made for me
Where I can pray the Rosary
    Unjudged, untrammeled, unobserved,
Where rights, not might, have been preserved
For the dictator and the dove,
The hater and the blameless love.
That’s how it is, for every kind:
Justice is keen-eyed, but is blind
Where God’s own tender mercies fall
Like measured rain upon us all.

    • Amen, Ellin! Psalm 33:12, blessed is the nation whose God is Lord. The U.S. is under judgment and needs to repent.

  3. Yes Renee, one action of repentance is Constitutional enforcement by We the People making law and order permanent in our counties. Help direct our future by checking out TacticalCivics dot com.

  4. I’m all for celebrating birthdays. But what about:

    * Ending the Ukraine war in the first 24 hrs
    * Banning mRNA shots (rather than promoting new ones on day one)
    * Ending taxes on tips and overtime
    * Releasing the Epstein files (for real instead of for show)
    * Giving some of that DOGE money back to taxpayers (instead of plowing the savings into the largest military budget in US history)
    * Promoting freedom and privacy (instead of enforcing Real ID, putting $500 billion into Stargate data centers “to keep up with China,” the world leader in surveillance, and creating a master database on every American (reported just last week)
    * Preserving cash instead of working to phase it out in favor of digital currency

Enjoy the party. Just remember to hold your leaders accountable.

  5. The No-King protest is same date in the same location. Watch your six if you think this will be a co-exist Kumbaya convergence among the red and blue teams. Taunting, screaming, spitting and shoving is likely to be the outcome – suggest change of location or be prepared to rumble and/or tumble. The powers want the violence – they want order out of chaos – don’t give it to them!

    • Nice to see that someone else here understands the real agenda. We all need to get out of the two-party penitentiary and see how it continues to play the country against itself. Without a distracted and divided population the “elites” have little power.
