Three drivers busted for 100-MPH+ speeding this weekend

A Highgate resident is facing a hefty fine and and a court charge after speeding on I-89 shortly after midnight Saturday, police say.

State Police were conducting speed enforcement on Interstate 89 northbound confirmed via radar a vehicle was traveling 107 mph, 42 mph above the posted speed limit.

The vehicle was stopped without incident and the operator was identified as Dara Sonhthaya (42) of Highgate.

Sonhthaya was ticketed $185, 2 Points and issued a citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court for the offense of Negligent Operation.

At 1:41 AM November 21, a state trooper conducting speed enforcement on I-89 in South Burlington conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing a vehicle travelling at 105 MPH in a clearly posted 55 MPH zone. The operator Isaiah Ellis-Monaghan (age 22) of Grand Isle. was ultimately issued a criminal citation.

November 20 at 10:40 PM, a state trooper conducting speed enforcement on I-89 in South Burlington stopped a vehicle travelling at 101 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The operator Alexander Hogan (age 31) also was issued a criminal citation.
