Dame: Dean, like Dems, turned unrecognizably radical

Howard Dean on Church St. in Burlington during his 2004 presidential run

by Paul Dame

Over the weekend former DNC Chairman Howard Dean indicated he was considering a run for Governor. VTGOP Chairman Paul Dame issued the following statement:

”This is certainly strange news. We know that Democrats have had a hard time running a candidate against American’s most popular Governor, Phil Scott, but reaching back in history to dust off Howard Dean seems like a real reach. This news also seems to make it even less likely that Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger will be running, since news of Dean would only cast a shadow on Miro’s efforts and set expectations too high for Miro.”

“But there is no better candidate to represent the Democratic Party than Howard Dean. Both have undergone an incredible transformation that leaves the barely recognizable from the 1990s. When he was Governor Howard Dean was known to “cut to the bone” in state spending. But shortly after that he became a radical and progressive firebrand that left many of his Vermont supporters confused and abandoned. After a turn as Chairman of the DNC the question Vermonters should ask is whether he is going to bring more of the toxic Washington-based tactics of the National Democratic party back to Vermont? It’s hard to tell which Howard Dean Vermonters would be in for, the man who modelled his first term after Republican Governor Dick Snelling – or the eccentric, scream-famous Progressive who seems to have a problem controlling his temper.”

“Another reason Dean may decide against running is he will have to answer for a number of his bizarre statements on a wide range of issues from his time as DNC Chair and after when he thought he’d never be accountable to voters again.”

  1. Lord help us. Photo – op Howard is back. Wasn’t it was Howard Dean that created so many rules and hoops to jump through that all the small health insurance companies couldn’t compete and left the state. The result of which literally handed the market to one major provider where we saw or premiums double or triple. And how about the time a group of workers had him walk over thinking they wanted to shake his hand and when he got there – they turned their backs on him. Just as they felt he had turned his back on them. Let’s let him know we haven’t forgotten his reign as self appointed King of Vermont – I guess he figured enough water had passed under the bridge. That would be a solid no from me. VERMONT DESERVES BETTER.

  2. Well, nice try. Looks like you guys really messed up. Instead of coming together and building a team, you were all satisfied with getting Governor Scott elected.

This will be a massive blow to Vermont, he will eat your lunch. He will have the full backing of the Democratic party; he has a very deep bench supporting him should he decide to run. Sadly, he was more fiscally conservative too.

Many republicans will vote for Dean…..because his old term was better than our new status……that’s how he’ win and yes, he’ll then go hard left.

You guys have messed up on an epically grand scale.

You guys didn’t even have a mailing list for the voting republicans in the Washington county, home of the Governor, home of our capital on the LAST election. That’s like opening a burger restaurant with no hamburger or buns.

We reap what we sow. There is a reason you have no money, no support and nobody running. Blame it “stupid people posting on the internet supporting Trump” or whatever you want. But you guys TOTALLY own this.

    • Dean betrayed Vermont’s most outspoken minority group of the time, the Abenaki. Rather than follow though with promises to give them even official recognition, when he feared inconvenience he turned on them and claimed they never existed. How does one think that would fly with today’s voters. EVERYTHING dredged up on him by his own party during his Presidential run regarding his term as governor would be used to show how Anti-Progressive the man has truly been.

Reminder: it took a Republican governor, Jim Douglas, to recognize our State’s original inhabitants.

  3. howie dean/// many years ago the take back vermont group and property owners standing together helped sent this ground rat packing/// i remember the days of howard the coward when the p. o. s. t. booth was at the fair grounds///

  4. I love it when VTGOP Chair Dame brags about Scott being the most popular Governor in America.
What Dame never mentions is that Scott received between 60 – 70% of his votes from democrats in each of his elections.

He fails to list Scott’s accomplishments…..

    1. Voting for Biden. 2. Giving millions of VT tax dollars to planned parenthood while never giving One Cent to any Pro Pregnancy Ctr in VT which actually provide Women’s health care. 3. Writing and signing illegal unconstitutional Gun Laws. 4. Stealing $2 million from a program to protect VT children at risk from domestic assault and $3 million from the Tobacco Settlement Fund to help Vermonters, to give to illegal aliens who were not eligible for Stimulus Checks. 5. Telling Vermonters they ” Weren’t Essential ” but planned parenthood, VT Liquor Stores, teachers and government employees were. 6. Shutting down Mom & Pop businesses because the risk was too great but all the franchises with 100s of people in them were safe. 7. Weaponizing school children by asking them who Mom and Dad had over for Christmas and Thanksgiving. 8. Blackmailing school districts with funding because they had high jab rates while withholding funding for districts where Parents chose to protect their children. 10. Most important of all his betrayals to Conservative Vermonters, Scott supported H89, the now Constitutional Law which makes abortion to the moment of Birth legal and allows the ” State ” the Right to take your child and sexually mutilate them. Destroying their reproductive capability for life. It also makes it a crime for any Parent or Health Care Worker who would fight to protect the child. 24 VT State GOP Representatives also voted for it.
So many more examples of why the democrats support Scott. 11. Scott’s refusal to define the word Woman, which puts every female in VT Schools, Sports, Business and Public place at risk.
What Dame and the other members of the VTGOP conveniently ignore, the only difference between Scott and Zuckerman is the ponytail.
So with the irony of calling out the democrat party for its massive swing towards marxism, Dame ignores how far left he has led the VTGOP.

Hey Mr. Dame, feel free to deny any of the facts I listed.

Full disclosure….. Mr. Dame defeated me when I ran for VTGOP Chair. I was the Platform Delegate for Chittenden County. I had introduced an Amendment that would have required every candidate running as a Republican to adhere to the VTGOP Platform. It was defeated by a 2 – 1 margin. Dame and Rules Committee Chair Koch cheered its defeat. In fact immediately after the vote Dame announced his Big Tent agenda to welcome anyone who claimed to be a Republican into the Party.
That got them Liam Madden who openly bragged about not being a Republican and weren’t you glad one would not be running for Congress ?
Dame and Koch’s Big Tent cost them seats in the Legislature because real conservative Vermonters would not support people who pretended to be conservative while voting with the marxists.

Howard Dean is a loon and the democrat party is leading Vermont to destroy the Middle Class.
With Dame leading the VTGOP the Republicans are only a step behind.

There is hope however, the Windsor County GOP is leading Southern VT by showing how to make the changes needed to bring Conservative values back. They have done great things by helping Windham and Bennington Counties. They have also reached out to Addison and Lamoille County.

    • AWESOME post!!! Just please don’t hold your breath waiting for Dame to refute you.

    • I’m amazed that you feel free to comment about the Republican party but agree that the same party should attempt to stifle the truth about a candidate running for office that has lied to the voters and about the people that worked on that write-in campaign and that includes you.

I guess it’s okay to censor free speech as long as it’s not yours..

And I’m not attempting to pick a fight with you or anyone else but it’s ironic that some people can pick away at the corruption of the GOP but others have to remain silent because they are censored on GOP sites.

I’m amazed at these men of God who preach we have to do the right thing yet turn their back on doing the right thing..

Why would someone attempt to cover up lies from a candidate running for office?

What good does that do for the people who vote thinking they are voting for someone of good character?

Sorry I just don’t buy into the war cry of just the vote Republican… If we did that we would still be voting for Dame and Scott and the rest of the people that you choose to chastise.

Do you wonder why people don’t trust the Republican party?

Without free speech how do we ever determine what the truth is..

And the truth isn’t always pretty but it’s still the truth..

I hope the GOP wakes up soon..

    • “the only difference between Scott and Zuckerman is the ponytail.”
Jim, I don’t think that is even true anymore, I think he chopped it off…unless he grew it back out. So, I think there is NO difference now.

    • Shouldn’t Republican candidates be the right choice, REGARDLESS of one’s party affiliation? Or are we stuck being good party members from birth? If a candidate only concerns themselves with half of their constituents, that’s not serving the whole.

  5. The installed leader of the VTGOP had to say something – so he said something. The cow chips will continue to fly and fall where they decide. Considering who sits in the top floor of the Pavillion building doesn’t matter since 1985 – see how it works:

    Maddy Kunin(D): 1985-1991
    Richard Snelling 2.0 (R): 1991-1991
    Howard Dean(D): 1991-2003
    Jim Douglas(R): 2003-2011
    Peter Shumlin(D): 2011-2017
    Phil Scott (R): 2017 – current

They trade the position back and forth and nothing get’s better – only worse, but not for them. They walk away wealthier than they walked in, revered as worthy of praise, gratitude, and saccarine salutations. They also get an oversize, expensive, royal-worthy portrait hung in the State House so their party-line fandom can worship it like Pharaoes of old. It’s a big, connected, exclusive, selected, deceptive club of shysters for decades and we pay for it all.

  6. Dean is a shill for pharma, so of course he’d be perfect for UVMMC/VT.

Another fact conveniently ignored by Mr. Dame.

  7. The problem with ALL politicians is that they can’t resist the moolah. The fire-hose of temporary cash from DC that comes with strings attached. But the strings don’t get pulled until the politicians and their cronies are accustomed to it. So these grubby palm greasers turn around and try to fleece middle class tax payers to replace the now lost cash.

You hear it all the time.
    – DC offers us extra education money for three years, we need to grab it.
    – DC will fund higher Medicaid funding to fund the “transition”, we have to grab it.
    – Our climate goals can be achieved with the help of DC cash. We have to get some of that.

They don’t care about trans kids, the mentally ill, the drug addicted, the middle class. They want the money. They use these wedge issues to a) get more federal money and/or b) distract us from the grift. And we agree to all this because we don’t want to lose out.

We are turkeys voting for more food in September. We think only of the extra food but never the reason why we are being fattened.

    • And VtRocks lets remember that the fiat currency that flows from DC is just that. FAKE money. Follow the Yellow Brick Road!

  8. Dean betrayed Vermont’s most outspoken minority group of the time, the Abenaki.
