A 49-year-old Groton man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting law enforcement officers while being taken into custody Friday morning on out-of-state warrants, according to the Vermont State Police.
Christopher Palermo was arrested at about 10:19 a.m. on Tinkham Road when troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks and a deputy with the U.S. Marshals Service attempted to serve two out-of-state warrants.
Palermo’s record includes child sex assault and cocaine trafficking. His facial tattoos show affiliation with the Brother of the White Warrior prison gang, according to media reports.
Police said Palermo tried to flee and resisted arrest. During the struggle and subsequent transport, authorities allege he bit a U.S. marshal and kicked a state trooper, causing pain and minor injuries to both officers. While in custody, Palermo also is accused of damaging a Vermont State Police cruiser.
He was transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing and later brought to Caledonia County Superior Court, where he was ordered held on $100,000 bail. Palermo was lodged at the Northeast Correctional Complex.
Palermo faces charges including two counts of fugitive from justice, two counts of assault on a protected professional, resisting arrest, unlawful mischief, and impeding a public officer. Additional charges may be filed, police said.

Strange how women who identify as men never make a big stink about having to go to a mens’ facility…
It pays to be nice to the correctional staff…so you dont end up being this guy’s cellmate, especially if you are non-white. It’s not a very restful night sleeping with one eye open.
State being over run by a bunch of freaks. Public education sure did a heck of a job turning out good citizens …outside of the Left Coast, biggest collection of freaks in the country…thank your lucky stars Donald J Trump is President, for without he ,and team, the Republic would be doomed.
With him as CIC, we stand a chance, but to clean up the mess, the left made, and has gamed the system so much, as to make that task almost impossible, I believe it will take declaring martial law, and installing military tribunals, to clean house of the abusers in our government.
