Take a close look at this daycare story (the second in a matter of weeks after scott appointed a new DCF department head): my what power the DCF has to control a private cottage industry now. What was the real issue? Allegations of child abuse? that’s a matter for the criminal system. Regulatory compliance? That’s a matter for the parents to be well informed about so they can decide, but sounds like a bureaucratic quagmire. Shutting it down over the actions of one accused employee seems very strange.
Has history been rewritten? Grey Lock was chief of the Pokatuck tribe in Mass. who after King Phillip’s war lead his people up the Hudson as refugees to resettle in VT circa 1678. The Pokatuck were forced by the Mohawks ( who controlled most of VT) further nortward to the Mississquoi delta and were active there well into the 1730s. The Abenaki were busy fighting their own bloody battles in New Hampshire and especially northern Maine trying to stem the northward flow of European settlers. Both Pokatuck and Abenaki were part of the vast Algonkin language family but each retained a separate tribal identity.
