The Vermont State Police are asking for the public’s help as detectives continue investigating a shooting that left one man wounded and a woman assaulted Sunday afternoon in Newbury.

Police identified the shooting victim Tuesday as Jonathan Garneau, 43, of Barre City. Garneau remains hospitalized at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. Investigators said his condition is stable.

Also injured during the incident was Amanda Belville, 41, of Cabot. Police said Belville was physically assaulted and was treated at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, New Hampshire.

The shooting occurred at about 2:05 PM Sunday on Jefferson Hill Road. Vermont State Police previously said Garneau was shot in the roadway and that investigators believe the incident was isolated and involved individuals who knew one another.

As the investigation continues, detectives with the Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Major Crime Unit are seeking information about a vehicle of interest: a bright yellow truck with a ladder rack and rust or rot damage along the lower driver’s side.

Police have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
