Along the way Goodge raised funds for Stand Up To Cancer in honor of his late mother, Amanda “Mandy” Goodge.

British ultra-marathoner, William Goodge, was awarded the Guinness Book of World Records title of fastest time to run a marathon distance in all 50 US states. In a mental, physical and logistical feat, Goodge ran a marathon distance in all 50 states in 22 days, 17 hours, 16 minutes and 34 seconds.

Goodge finished his Vermont running in Brattleboro. He was given the confirmation live on CBS Mornings during a sit down with anchors Gayle King, Nate Burleson and Norah O’Donnell. Watch here.

Says William Goodge, “The experience taught me many things. Purpose for something outside of yourself is a palpable energy force that can be unstoppable. When times were at their toughest I think of my mother who battled cancer so bravely. She was the strongest person I’ve ever known and she passed that to me. This is a testament also to what a team can achieve, because without my close-knit team on the road and Goodwin behind the scenes this would have been completely impossible. Lastly, the kindness and generosity of the American public. Many, across so many states, offered help, aid, showed up to run with me and some didn’t even know what I was doing. People have the power to change the world for the better and at our core we are beautiful and supportive.”

The challenge, titled Goodwin Generated: Mission America, saw Goodge run a full marathon length of 26.2 miles within each of the state lines. He began the push in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 9th and ended at the NYC Marathon on November 1st. During the challenge he ran through handpicked cities, ranging from iconic US landmarks to State Capitals to college towns to rural areas. Goodge ran anywhere from 1 to 3 marathons a day. Goodge ran in honor of his mother, Amanda “Mandy” Goodge, who passed away from cancer. Her passing inspired Goodge to embrace his mantra of “Pain with Purpose” which he brings to all his physical efforts. “Pain with Purpose” enables Goodge to view extreme pain not as a stop sign, but as a space to find clarity. Along the way, Goodge raised money for cancer research through a GoFundMe fundraising challenge benefitting Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). See here.

Goodge’s partner for this effort is Goodwin. If it wasn’t for their world class back-end systems and incredible expertise, making this happen in 22 days would have been an insurmountable task. Founded in 2022, Goodwin Company is revolutionizing the charter industry with innovative technology that streamlines charter operations. Goodwin acts solely in a B2B capacity, supporting brokers and operators in digitizing and elevating their workflows, ensuring charter aviation professionals can focus on building meaningful client relationships and scaling their businesses.

Goodge, who believes in transparency, rigorously monitored his mileage and physical parameters, via Strava, two fitness watches and a GPS live tracker that data was also stored. He recorded and provided timestamped GPS evidence in .KML format for each run, as well as photographic and video evidence of the start, finish and other points during each run in every state, in addition to witness statements. People were invited to join Will for the first 5k of every run. Tracking was accessed here.

Goodwin Generated: Mission America follows Goodge’s previous challenge, a push across the length of Australia, which he completed on May 19, 2025. Goodge ran from Cottesloe Beach, Perth, WA, Australia to Bondi Beach, Sydney, NSW Australia, totaling 2,361 miles in 34 days, averaging about 70 miles a day. He was awarded the Fastest Known Time by Keelan Birch, the FKT Editor for Australia, on August 15, 2026.
