All three 2026 New England tornados in Vermont

Two tornados on Thursday afternoon June 18 struck Vermont towns about 50 miles distant from each other and separated by the Green Mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

Both tornados were categorized as EF-1, the second least intensive level on the tornado scale. EF1 generally results in moderate damage and winds 86-110.

Lincoln, located in Addison County on the western slope of the Green Mountains, was struck by a 105 MPH tornado about .3 miles long and 200 yards wide. An hour later, a tornado a tad slower (100 MPH) but bigger at 1.34 miles long and 550 yards wide struck the Bridgewater, Woodstock (Windsor County) area. The two towns are about 50 miles apart, as the proverbial crow flies.

“Our survey team today confirmed two EF-1 tornados from June 18th, 2026, with one located in South Lincoln, Vermont and one located in Bridgewater/Woodstock, Vermont.,” the National Weather Service office in Burlington reported on Facebook.

No injuries or deaths were reported, although the Windsor County twister warped solar panels, a shed and some roofing, the NWS said.

All three of New England’s tornados this year have been in Vermont. On April 16, a 90 MPH tornado touched down in Williamstown, destroyed an old farm building.
