Supremes deny State’s Attorney Vekos license reinstatement

The Vermont Supreme Court has rejected a request by Addison County State’s Attorney Eva Vekos to have her law license reinstated.

The rejection comes one day after Vermont News FIrst broke the story about the only licensed lawyer left in the Addison County office is departing next Friday.

In a 4-page decision released today, the Vermont Supreme Court agreed 5-0 that reinstatement of the license for Vekos was improper.

Associate Justice Christina Nolan, who had voted initially against the suspension of the license in April, wrote in her own decision today that she still believes suspension was the wrong decision. However, she wrote she agrees with the rest of the court on denying the appeal seeking reinstatement.
